Mysterious Fire

Staring at the bright flames,
Flames from a large bonfire.
Flames that remind you
Of the flames in hell.

As I stare into the flames
I am drawn into its light.
I am drawn into its flame
By a pair of dark green eyes
Filled with danger.

The being behind the eyes
Has me in a trance.
I feel the flames.
I feel their heat
As they consume me.

I feel is on my skin
And when the eyes release me,
No harm has come
To me.



(I wrote the poem a few years ago, and my little sister did the artwork with it.)

One With the Universe

I am one with the Universe.
I was born in the Universe,
Will die in the Universe,
And shall be reborn again,
Through her.
Fore, Earth is by body,
Fire is my spirit,
Water is my blood, and
Air is my breath.
My spirit soars.
Everything lives through this cycle.

Longing

Two star-crossed lovers
Back together in each others arms.
The love they share
Freely given to one another.

A gentle touch to her face,
His body strong with muscles tight
With his arms wrapped protectively around her.

First thoughts in their heads,
"It's been far too long
Since we were last together."

As they kiss
Their passion grows.
With the light in their eyes and love in their hearts
Pushing them to their limits.

River Sanctuary

I go down to the river
Usually late at night
Just to have some time alone,
And to clear my mind.

Sometimes the river is my calming tool
Because of anger or frustration inside me.
Other times it is my sanctuary for peace of mind
When I am troubled.

Still, every once in a while
I go down to the river
In the daylight with my sister
Just to explore and be one with nature.

My Woods

The woods outside my windowpane are as big as big can be,
And practically go as far as the eye can see.
There is one path in particular that I always go
It leads me to my special place that no one will ever know.
It leads me to my lake of dreams where the faeries like to play,
And it is the place I go just to get away.
This is my magical place I go for peace,
And celebrate the sabbats and have the magick feast.
My family never understands my need for my special place.
Fore, when I told them they cast me down as a disgrace.
Alas, one day I will share my little piece of heaven with my children beside me.
Bound by love, hope, and dreams.

A Soldier Remembered

A soldier in the Army.
A soldier in Christ.
A soldier was this man when I met him.

He was serving both faithfully.
He was a joy to be around.
His love for children shone through and through
In the Sunday school room.

When the call was delivered
To deploy to Iraq
Everyone prayed for a safe and quick return.

But, alas, this soldier returned home
With honors and the loss of his life.

My heart goes out to his family,
And to all the other families of soldiers
Who have lost their lives
To keep us free.

Angel Kiss


Embracing me in his arms
He wipes away my tears
From the stress and family problems in my life.

He softly kisses my forehead
And whispers in my ear
Telling me everything will be alright.

Finding comfort in his presence
I put my head on his shoulder
Taking in the peacefulness of love.

Complicated


Feelings that are in my heart
I can no longer hide.
Things I want to say to him
But just don't know why.

Knowing he's with someone else
Doesn't change a thing,
But fear of telling him the truth
Takes over just the same.

Fear of past rejection
Hidden way down deep.
Only time will know
How long it will keep.

Although, I know one day
The time will come to me
For him to know the truth
Of how powerful love can be.

Complications of the Heart

He knows my feelings for him,
Yet, I don't know his for me.
He has a situation
In which he can't find his way out.

He says he has feelings for me
Although he's unable to act upon them.
He's attached to another
To whom has no one locally to turn to.

She would never go back home
To live with either of her parents…like I did.
She's never been one who was close to her family
Like I have been all my life.

Alas, until all things play out
I have to hide my feelings for him from the world.

Don't Let Me Go


Embraced in each others arms
After making love
They hold onto one another
Not willing to let the other go.

The hour is growing late
She needs to be heading home.
Yet, all that she can think of is,
Please, don't let me go!

He hugs her tight when she says,
"I do not wish to go."
He kisses her on the top of her head, then replies,
I don't want you to go."

As the hour grows late
She reluctantly heads for home.
Remembering his arms around her
Thinking, Please don't let me go.

Tears


Tears from a mother
At a loss for words.
Eighteen months ago
She never thought
She would ever hear him speak
So clearly.

The Pride in her heart
Keeps her from making a sound.
For fear that he will stop,
She just sits there in amazement
At her autistic son.

As she climbs the stairs
To make his bed
The tears brim in her eyes.
When she tells her sister,
The tears fall
Making it difficult to tell
The story behind the tears.

Awkward & Special


Trapped within my body,
Unsure how to communicate
Lives the life of my autistic son.

Strong with numbers and letters,
His favorite toys: cars and legos.
Almost always wears a happy grin
That always makes my day.

But, although my son has special needs,
And sometimes his behavior is odd,
There is no need to send the awkward glances
Because how would you feel to be in our shoes,
Receiving one.

Ever After


Ever after in this peaceful place
Surrounded by peers and colleagues
In the most peaceful and respected place
In the United States…
Arlington National Cemetery.

Honesty


Being honest should be an easy thing to do.
It can help lighten and free your soul.
Yet people are usually too ashamed or scared to do so.
They don't feel as though they are able to speak the truth
To whom may be concerned.

Graduation


As graduation approaches
I think back on my life,
And all the struggles that made me who I am.
If it hadn't been for the difficulties
I wouldn't be the strong, competent woman
Here standing before you.

As I sit here with my classmates,
I recall all the laughs and jokes we've had,
And all the memories we've shared.
With as many as there are here in the class
I will truly miss
The ones that really got to know me
Each term.

As I walk to receive my certificate, I am proud of all the accomplishments
I've made in the past year.
Knowing it has been well worth it
Knowing I have a job to go to
That will support myself and my children
After graduation.

My beloved Enchanter

My Performance

As nerves take over
I try to stay calm.
I pray to the Lord Almighty
Creator of Heaven and Earth.

My nerves start to flee
Until the congregation starts to enter.
I talk to a friend in choir, who says,
"Give it to the Lord and He will guide you through."

As the service goes on
I am totally calm.
Then the choir director dismisses everyone
Leaving me completely alone.

The scripture has been read,
And now it is my turn.
The nerves slowly begin to return.

I say a quick prayer in my head
As the sound crew starts the tape,
And as my nerves dissolve
The message of God comes out from my voice
In Song.

The Many Truths of Love



Love.
Love is a very complicated thing,
Yet it is the easiest thing to do.

The Bible says:
"Love is patient and kind.
Love doesn't envy or boast.
Love is not self-seeking.
Love is not rude or proud.
Love is not easily angered.
Love rejoices in the truth.
Love always protects, trusts, hopes, and preservers.
Love never fails [1 Corinthians 13:4-8].

If you truly love someone
You do all those things.
No matter your religious belief.

Those words are true.
True love is the best love of all.

Unwanted Encounter

A man who works
With my dear friend
Is standing next to me.
We start to talk
Like most friends do
About school, work, and family.

His behavior has been different
For the past few weeks.
He's been flirting a lot more.

It wouldn't bother me so much
If he weren't married.
But still he continues on
Oblivious that I am uncomfortable.

He stares at me chest,
And tells me how nice they look.
Then nonchalantly mentions
How much he would like to see them.

I smile at him
Then walk away.
Thankful he didn't follow.

I tell my dear friend what happened.
He gives me a hug,
And tells me that everything will be fine.

We both agree
Until things get better
That I am never to be alone with him again.

Trapped

Caught in a love triangle
Can’t decide to whom I want.
The stress from the current situation
Has me in a rut.

My head tells me to stay with my spouse
While my heart says to be free and happy.
Although, not knowing which one my heart belongs to
Has me retreating back into my shell.

Lord and Lady guide me,
Help me stay on the chosen path.
So I can end this pain inside
Caused by a heartaches aftermath.

Betrayal

Promises, lies, and pain
The intern had received!
Lies from the HR representative
Who hired me.
A promise of a job waiting,
Waiting with the company,
Waiting when her hours have been completed.
Pain and betrayal now fill my heart
Because the promise of her hiring
Was stolen by two people.

A Penny for Your Thoughts

I never know what goes on inside your head.
I wish I knew
So I wouldn't be so confused by your actions
When we are together with other people
Or alone.

For a while he had known my feelings for him
Through my written poetry.
I just don't have any idea on his feelings for me.

Every time I try to speak to him about what's on my mind
Something always comes up.
We don't get the chance to have a personal talk
With each other.

Separation


Hard times come for a little child
The first time away from her mother.
Fore, she's always used to being with her mother.
Always.

Tantrums, tears, and clinging doesn't seem to help.
It doesn't keep mommy home with her.

Although, the little one doesn't understand
Mommy is doing this for them.
To make their lives better
And to start a new life,
Being able to live on their own.

Fear & Warnings

From the mouth of the other woman
Lies and half truths come.
Protecting her relationship
With that special someone.
She tells the other woman
That her relationship with their man
Is just friendship.

Her feelings for him are the same
As her feelings for the other man
She has recently bedded.
They are just friends.
She likes him,
But that is it.

The other woman does not believe
What the other says.
The other woman says to me
To back off from her man.
She does not like the fact
That he and I are so close.

He and I will go out
Just like friends will do.
Yet, for some strange reason
Every time I invite her out
She makes up some excuse
To stay indoors, and tells him to go on.

No wonder the people
At his place of work
Are receiving mixed signals
And are unsure to whom he is with.

The man is a major flirt
That doesn't care about what other people think.
I admire that
Because he is being himself.

His other half just doesn't understand him
The way that I do.
