"What did you tell the kids when they found out"

"She never comes here, so they don't know anything. I would leave when they were asleep."

"It hurts"

"I-I know, I'm s-sorry, but p-please. Don't take t-them, don't leave m-me," I said as the cold started to get to me.

I sigh, "Come in the car. We'll grab food before I decide anything"

I nod and get in.

"you know where to go" I tell the driver

I wanted to watch her but I knew it'd irritate her right now if I stared so I kept my gaze on the floor.

I turn up the heat and hand him some clothes. His clothes.

"T-thanks," I said and put them on.

"I brought them hoping your follow me"

"Oh," I said.

I jerk back and look out the window holding back tears

I wasn't so sure of what to say hen I said that, that was the only thing I could think of. "I would've come out even if you walked out. And asked you that if you don't stay for me, then for them."

"You would have?"

I nodded. "Only if you had just left me and the kids. I won't let you go easily."

"But now that I took the kids?"

"It's harder, because without them, I don't have anything to keep me together. That's what was going on while you were gone."

"You'd have her" I whisper

"No I wouldn't, I didn't want the kids to hear the way I spoke to her because I didn't want them to be afraid of me." I said.

"She'll come back you know"

"Well, if she does and you and the kids are gone, I won't be here for her to find me. I will be somewhere, but it could be a place neither of us really want to talk about." I don't think I could survive knowing I had four kids and a girl I loved somewhere and not next to them because I made a mistake.

I look at him, "What do you mean by that?"

"I can't survive without you guys. I barely survived these past months, but if it weren't for our kids I would've died."

"Please. Don't kill yourself!"
