Stevie Rae's...(Spoiler)

I didn't know where to put this, so if there's a speculation/theories thread, please tell me and I will move my post there. But since there is discussion about Rephaim here already, I guess it's okay. Anyway, here are my thoughts about SR's death, that I figured out recently:

I was wondering, if it really was coincidence that SR died? That maybe it was Neferet's doing all along. And I don't mean her causing her to "un-die" and become what she became. No, I mean Neferet causing her to die. About the other fledglings I'm not so sure, but with SR it was just too convenient.

Let's look at it from Neferet's POV: She needed to get rid of Zoey and to get rid of her, she needed her friends to abandon her. So starting with her BFF seems like the way to go at it. Afterwards, she took care of Erik and the rest, as well as starting to undermine Zoey's reputation, spread lies etc. She started that with falsely portraying Zoey's ideas about the Daughters as her own. I mean, if SR wouldn't have died, I doubt it would have gone so smoothly for Neferet, if at all. SR would definitely have gotten some answers from Zoey back then and all. So, yeah, I think it really was too convenient for Neferet and that's why I started to think that maybe she did something that caused all those fledglings to die. Or at least more of them, than would die under normal circumstances.

On a side note: I also think, that SR didn't die on the day she got her affinity, but the other way around. She got her affinity the day she died. I think Nyx knew/sensed it was going to happen, so she gave the group their affinity's (maybe even earlier than she originally planned). Because later we found out, that SR's earth affinity was the only thing that saved her mind. What do you think?

A rather interesting theory, and it does answer a few questions that came to mind while reading the book. Ultimately, I'm inclined to agree with you on that subject.

I thought these passages were confirmation that Neferet had forced Stevie Rae (and possibly others) to reject the change

I was scared to read the rest of the books after stevie rae died. I dont think zoey could be with out her bestie. well she is here now but i dont like that she has changed.

It was pretty sad! But I saw it coming... it was kinda dark though.
