"Well... Then why do you think the vampires attacked us this time?" I asked.

I shrugged "It could be for a number of reasons. It could be as simple as a prank or as complicated as a war. anything is possible."

"War..." I mused. "I don't think it would be a prank this time. We get stronger every year and it seems to me that they lost a lot of vampires this time." And Jason never fights with them. There has to be a real reason.

I laughed a little and shrugged "Like I said it could be anything. it all depends on who the vampire was."

"Jason," I whispered. Then I shook my head. "You're probably right." Why was I thinking of Jason so much?

I smiled and looked at her "Would you like to talk about it with just the two of us?"

I looked at her and shook my head again. I was going to die with my secrets some day. "I'd rather not," I said.

I smiled and put my arm around her and hugged her "Just know that i'm always here for you alright?"

I was slightly uncomfortable in the hug but I still hugged her back. No one really ever talked to me. "Sure," I said.

I stopped hugging her. That wasn't like me. "Please don't be afraid to come and talk to me. I don't want you to get hurt."

"Hurt?" I asked. "What type of pain? Forget that. Sure, I'll come to you if I need anything."

I shook my head at her "any type of pain. Trust me..." I remembered those days. The days where everyday was your last and you lived then and forgot about the rest. I remember the vampires and when I loved one...He was dead now but I hoped she wouldn't get messed up with that also.

"Ok then," I said. I never really talked to anyone. Her and Paysin would be my friends for now. If they showed interest later then I would have to take her up on her offer.

I smiled at her "Good." I winked "Wouldn't want you to get hurt."

I smiled and rolled my eyes. Who knows? She might care about me. Or she could be like all the others who show a minute of kindness only to take it back later. Yeah... Life sucks, then you die.

I smiled at her "it could be worse. so cheer up." I nudged her a little.

I didn't really see how but I still smiled. It was slightly forced but still there.

i ran at the door for the umpteenth time. i'd only been looking in the closet for something unimportant when i'd been shoved in and heard the door shut and click as it was locked. it was steel and i couldnt budge it. i'd tried calling out once but then realised that made me weak so i tried battering the door instead. i'd made a few dents or at least i assumed so. the light wasnt working and it even though i have fairly good vision in the dark it was still pitch black. i gorwled in frustration and kicked some things about.

I winked at her "Trust me. It could be much worse."

"I'll believe you," I said. "After you tell me how."

I shrugged at her "You could be like me..."

"What did you do that was so bad?" I asked looking at her. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

I looked at her "I loved a vampire and it cost me...."

I bit my lower lip. "Yeah," I said. "The guy who was trying to kill me... ex-boyfriend."

I winked at her "I could have guessed. It's alright though. Your secrets safe."
