I brushed my teeth in a rush. But I made sure I got every inch.

I smiled at her once and then spit in the sink to get rid of the toothpaste. I licked my teeth a few times to make sure I got rid of the minty-ness of the toothpaste and spit it out again while rinsing off my brush.

I ran the water and put a handful in my mouth to was away the excess toothpaste.

I set my toothbrush back in the little cup and watched her finish.

I put my brush back and dried my mouth. I looked at him expectantly, waiting for what he wanted. He was right. The voices didn't come back.
