Love at Midnight

I could feel Darkness around me. Light was leaving me. I was Changing. No one to help me. I tried to run from it, but i couldn't. It felt like i caught, and thrown to the ground. No sound escaped my lips. Bound by Darkness, unable to move. Consciousness slipping. Life fading, Death awakening.
I opened my eyes to a new life. Better vision, smell, sound, and hearing. I felt thirsty. My teeth ached. My veins burned within me. I could smell the blood of feared Humans. Inth their necks, my fangs sank in. Their blood drained, quenching my thirst. A vampire, I was. Forever Immotal. Forever a Hunter. Forever a Traitor to life.


*I woke up from the dream. I always had that dream when i let my thirst take the better of me. That was what it was like for me to change into a vampire all those years ago. I hated t then, and still hate it today.
I got dressed, and ready for school. I live alone. I am the only vampire in town as far as I know. There are werewolves, which are ok. at least I get along with them, and drink blood from animals, and not humans or Werewolves. I get on with Tia, a werewolf in my year at school, we hunt together, shop together, and hang out together. We never let what we are get the better of us. If i didn't have her to talk to, i don't know who i would talk to?

School. Full of humans mostly, apart from the few werewolves and me. It's the boys that are the problem. I won't date any, incase i bite them, and turn them into vampires like me. There are a few cute ones, but sadly, i don't date. Tia does, cause she doesn't have to be worried about turning anyone into a werewolf. Any guy would go for a girl with long blond hair, blue eyes and natural tan skin. Not many guys go for a girl with black hair, black eyes and pale skin like me. She's single at the moment. I waited for her at the entrance to school. She's always late.
"Hey Maria, I over slept today, sorry."
"It's ok Tia, Don't worry, it happens to everyone."
"Yeah, i guess. What's first lesson?"
"English Lit."
"Aww, my least favourite subject."
As the bell rang, we left for our first lesson.

Miss Day our teacher walked into the room after everyone had gotton here.
"Settle down now class.," SHe pushed her glasses up her nose "We have a new student joining today, and i want you to make him feel welcome. He's come from Illinois to join our School. Welcome Jared."
I watched as he walked into the room. Messy dark hair, bright blue eyes, a killer smile, tall and handsome. I couldn't help but look at his neck, i caught sight of the main artery there, and quickly averted my eyes.
"Now Jared, you can sit over there by Maria. Don't worry, she doesn't bite." That sounded kind of weird cause, i do bite.
Tia gave me a "Bad joke" kind of look, and i smiled in return.
Jared sat down beside me. I took in a quick breath, but i was too late. HIs scent was so mouth watering. i tried my best not to think about it, "Hey, welcome to North Carolina." I said.
"Thanks, it's nice to be here, Nice name."
"Thanks, yours is nice too."
He smiled.
Miss Day started talking, going on as she usually does.
"Is she usually like this?" Jared whispered to me.
"Yeah, don't ever ask her a question, she spends twice as long answering it."
He chuckled as she turned round "Whats so funny, Jared?"
"Uh, nothing Miss."
She gave him a concerned look, and continued.
"Busted." I whispered to him.
"Ssh, i don't want to be in more trouble."
We didn't speak much for the rest of the lesson, but whispered a few times.
When the bell rang for the end of the lesson, we departed.
"I hope we have more lessons together, Maria."
"Me too, see you soon."
I left for Biology with Tia.

"Tia, I really need to hunt tonight." I said on the way to Biology.
"The new kid get to you?"
"Yeah, and the dream."
"Oh, Tonight. Midnight."
"I know my own surname."
She hit her head with ther hand, "I meant we go hunting at Midnight."
I blushed in embarrassment, "Oh, yeah, i forgot." I saw Jared waiting for Chemistry, and he smiled at me, I smiled back, and walked into Biology. Me and Tia talked the whole way through it about Jared mostly, keeping our voices low.
Jared was waiting outside my room after lesson, "What you got now?"
Gym, you?"
"Same, Mr Grensall"
"Me and Tia have Miss Friston."
"Oh, shame, or we could pair up."
"Uh, yeah" Me and Tia didn't go to Gym, cause of our Speed and Agility. "See you later."
"Bye Maria, Bye Tia."
"Bye, Jared." Tia called as he left.

We went out to Tia's car, with the music up loud.
"Maria, look." Tia shook my arm and pointed out the window. Jared wasn't in Gym
"Why is he there?" I asked.
"Don't know, shall we find out?"
"Yeah." I was a little confused.
Tia turned off the music, and we got out the car.
"Hey, Jared." She called. He jumped, and turned round
"Hey, what you two doing out here?" He asked
"Skipping Gym, as usual, you?" Tia replied
" uh, same, can't stand the lesson."
"Neither can we." I said
"I'm going into town for a bit, you guys coming?"
"Yeah, sure." It would be nice, i thought.
"We'll meet you there." Tia said, walking back to her car.
"i'll be there first, girls." He grinned, and got into his car.
We got in, and set off, out the school gates before Jared got out.
We got into town and parked near the Diner. Jared arrivied a few minutes later.

I like it.

"So, what brings you to Jackson, Georgia, Jared?" Tia asked as we sat down. I didn't order a drink, as i wasn't thirsty.
"I just wanted a change of scenary. It's nice in Chicago, but too much of a city life."
"It's nice here, i guess. I moved here five years ago, and i love it here. Tia was the first person i met." I actually moved here 29 years ago, keeping hidden until dark. then hunting at night.
"How did you two meet?" Jared asked.
"We were out shopping at what seemed to be the same time. Maria had just moved here, and we got talking, and became the best of friends." Actually, i was out hunting in the forest one night, and Tia was too. I came close to killing her, but i stopped, we gradually got to know eachother, the she persuaded me to enroll in school. we have been good friends ever since.
"Aww, its hard to make new friends i guess."
"Yeah." Tia drank half of her milkshake. I kept my eye on Jared, and noticed her made o move to drink his.

I drank my milkshake, and so did Tia. Jared had half of his before we all left for school. I had music, on my own before lunch. Tia had Art with Jared.
"I'll see you at lunch, Tia." I called before walking to music.
"See you then." She shouted back."
I sat at my desk, and got out my piano book. I loved playing the piano, it was calming, and showed emotions in so many ways.
"You all have things to be getting on with i'm sure," Miss Young said to the class, and everyone walked to their instruments. "Maria, i have something for you," She gave me a piano book, "It has some amazing songs, so i thought you may want to use it."
"I would, thanks." I took the book, and walked to the Piano room.
I sat down, and flicked through the pages. I found a song i liked. 'Out here on my own' by Irene Cara.
I played through the song a few times, i made a few mistakes, but got the hang of it by the end of the lesson.
I took the book back to Miss Young, "Oh, no, you can keep it, i already have a copy, and wanted you to have that one, since you are my best Piano student."
"Thanks Miss." I walked away to meet Tia.
"Hey, how was Music?" She asked me when i found her.
"Itw as good, i was given a new book by Miss Young."
"Lucky, she never gives me anything."
"Maybe cause you broke one of the guitars in Freshman year?"
She laughed to herself, "Maybe."
The cafeteria wasn't too full today. I got a sandwich and an apple for lunch, ||Tia got the same, and we sat down, gossiping.

We were together for History and French. Jared was in our french class. He was actually quite good to my surprise. After, we went our seperate ways. I left with Tia, and Jared left alone.
"Right, the plan for tonight is, We go out hunting at 7:30PM then hit the town about 8:30PM or as soon as we get cleaned up. I'll meet you at your house with the car." Tia said. She always had a plan every night. I had no idea where she came up with some of her ideas.
"That sounds alright," We pulled up outside my house, "I'll see you then."
"Bye." She said, before driving home.
I was left on my own, and got ready for tonight.

I changed into more casual clothes, that i wouldn't mind getting blood on. I completed my homework just before Tia knocked on the door.
"Guess who?" She giggled when i answered the door.
"Come on in." I moved to let her in.
"Any chance of a cuppa, Maria, I'm parched?"
I put the kettle on, got two mugs, milk, and teabags, and poured two cups of tea.
We sat on the couch when they were ready.
"Have you done your homework?" Tia asked, looking at the table.
"Yeah, so i can go hunting tonight, and so i have free time the rest of the week."
"I have started, but i couldn't wait to come over tonight, and never finished."
"No wonder you seem so bouncy."
She laughed, and drank her tea. "Are we going yet?"
"I haven't finished my drink yet." I finished it. "Now we are going."
She jumped off the couch, putting her mug down on the coffee table, and headed to the door. I followed, but not as quick as her.
We got to the car, and set off. Stopping in the woods, and got out.
Tia undressed, and changed into her wolf form. A Sandy furred wolf, with black eyes.
She ran into the woods, i followed after her. I caught the scent of a deer, and ran after it, catching it, and killing it. I drank its blood, draining it, and ran after another. I caught another scent whilst running after the next deer, and ran toward it. When i saw what it was, i couldn't believe i ran after it.
Jace, the guy who had a huge crush on me.

I came out of my hunting Phase, and walked over to Jace.
"Jace, what are you doing out here?" I asked.
He jumped, and something in his eyes didn't look right.
"Why are you here, Maria?" He asked.
"I...I was taking a walk out in the woods, i do it on a night, so i can have to time alone, you?"
"Uh, the same, i guess. You have a bit of blood round your mouth"
"I quickly wiped it. "I must have scratched it when i walked by the low branches."
"I see no scratch?"
I kept my hand there. "it hurts."
"Are you heading into town later?" He asked me.
"Yeah, with Tia when she comes round to mine, she had homework to do first."
"Oh, can i meet up with you?"
"Yeah, i'll let Tia know."
"I mean just you, i have something important to tell you."
"Uh, okai, when and where?"
"8:30pm by the Pizzaria"
"Okai, see you there, Jace." I began to walk the way i came.
"Bye." He called, and went the other way.
When i couldn't smell him, i ran back through the woods, catching the scent of two more Deers, draining their blood. I had enough blood now to last for a week. I went back to the car, and waited for Tia. She came back five minutes after me, Shifted, and dressed. We stopped at my house, so i could change, wash, and get my purse. Then, it was to Tia's, so she could do the same.
I told her about me meeting up with Jace in private, and she agreed to wait in the Diner.
8:30pm came quickly, and i stood waiting outside for Jace, who came late.
We got a table, and ordered a pizza.
"What do you want to tell me, Jace?" I asked.
He took a deep breath before saying anything, looking nervous. "I klnow what you are, Maria."

I sat trying not to show any signs of worry.
"What do you mean, you know what i am, I'm human, and you know it." I told him
"You are not human, you are a vampire, like me." HE said.
"You're a vampire?"
"Yes, i have been for 374 years."
"Prove it."
He signalled for the waiter to preserve our table, and bring the food when we got back. He took me out into the alley.
"Now i will show you." He opened his mouth, and his fangs came out. I looked, i couldn't believe what was happening. He pushed me back against the wall, and kissed me. My fangs came out in anger, and i pushed him back.
"What do you think you are doing?"
"I love you. Remember the guy you were engaged to marry. Remember the guy who changed you? It was me."
I remembered back. His hair was slightly longer then, and darker. The same shade in his eyes, same color of his skin, his lips. It was him.
"Why did you do this to me?" I asked in a whisper.
"Because i loved you. You ran away from this, and i thought i lost you forever." He kissed me again, and i let him this time. I loved him.
"I want to try your blood again." He said against my lips.
I moved my hair from my neck to let him. He bit into my neck, drawing the blood out. He didn't take much.
He moved his neck to my lips. "Take some of mine, please." I bit into his neck without hesitation.
This was the best blood i had tasted in my whole life, so full of life, i wanted more with every drop. He pulled away when i had too much.
"I love you, Maria." He said to me.
"I love you too, Jace." I replied, and we went back inside for dinner.

Nice, I like it.

Our pizza came as we sat down. We ate in silence, looking at eachother every few moments, looking deep into eachothers eyes, as we always did when we were together before. I missed been with him, and happy to be reunited with him.
"Where did you go when you left?" JAce asked me, as we walked to the diner, after the pizza.
"I ran from here to Illinois, then to Virginia, then back here to Georgia. Where have you been?"
"Just round Georgia. I came back here to revisit the town, and found out you were here, and enrolled in the same school, in the same classes."
"How did you know which school and classes?"
"If i have a good connection to you, like holding an item you once treasured, or if we shared blood, i ca tune into your thoughts, and you could tune into my thoughts."
Well, we didn't have blood, so, what item could you have of mine?" I asked him.
He put his hand into his pocket, and brought out a silver locket. I thought i had lost it forever.
"My locket."I whispered.
"Yes, i found it when you left, and kept it with me every day you have been gone." He opened it, to show a picture of me in one half, and a picture of him in the other half. The pictures were taken after we announced our engagement. JAce had given me the locket as a gift, with those pictures inside.
I turned round for him to put it on me. It felt nice to be wearing it again after so many years.
"Thank you so much for returning it for me."
"You are most welcome."
We reached the diner, and found Tia inside, with a milkshake.
"Hey you two." She said as we reached the table she was sat at.
"Hey." We both said.
"You two look happy, whats up?"
"Me and Jace are together, we were together back in the 1860's"
Jace looked horrified i had told Tia that, and began to protest. I cut him off.
"Tia knows everything about me. She's a werewolf."

"A werewolf?"
"Yeah, thats me?" Tia said.
"Wow, i heard their were werewolves around, but i didn't actually believe it." He looked really shocked.
"Its okai, i'm the only one, i hope." She laughed.
"I know another one, i saw him out in the woods, shifting from human to Wolf form." Jace said to us both quietly.
"Who?" I asked.
"Jared, the new guy. I don't think he saw me, he may have scented me though."
"Well, lets just hope he didn't, or we may have a problem with a werewolf." I said.
"Don't worry, i'll help you two if there is a problem." Tia told us.
"Thanks."
The night ended kind of short, Tia gave me and Jace a lift to my house.
"Have a nice night." She said to us both before she drove off.
I invited Jace in for a drink. We sat talking about when we were together, about how we wanted our lives to end up.
"Well, i guess i should be going now." It was 12:37PM.
I got up with him, and kissed him goodnight.
He kissed me back, harder, and more passionate.
I couldn't help but kiss him, and he pushed me back onto the couch.

Jace lay on top of me, kissing me passionately. I removed his shirt, running my hands over his chest. He removed mine, kissing my breasts.
"Bed." He whispered, scooped me up, and i pointed to my room. He lay me down on the bed, and I unfastened his pants, as he went to mine. He laid on top of me when we were bare of our clothes, and entered me, moving hard and fast. It had been too long since we last slept together.
I moaned after every stroke. moaning louder, and longer. We came around the same time, then he pulled out of me, and laid beside me. We both were breathing heavily.
"I missed you so much, Maria." He said in between breaths.
"I missed you too."
"Lets never part again. Ever."
"For ever is a really long time, and a lot happens within that time."
"I know, but we belong together. We always have. Lets get back together, please, Maria?"
"I don't know..."
"Please." He looked into my eyes.
I sighed. "Yes, we're back together."
He kissed me on the lips. "Thank you, dear."
"You are most welcome. I am going to sleep now." I yawned.
He yawned too. "Me aswell."
I got up to turn off the light, then joined him back in bed. The first time we slept together in over 100 years.
"Good Night." I said to him
"Night." He said back, then we fell to sleep.
