Chapter 1
One morning, I was playing with my friends Kizzy, Taro, Noba, Leon, Kowa, and King.
“Urosea, King’s right on your tail!” Taro called after me as we all played tag with each other. King was it.
“No he isn’t!” I laughed as me running turned to me sprinting around.
“Urosea, watch out!” Kizzy yelled. I slammed into my crush, Cedoc
“S-sorry, Cedoc.” I laughed a little. He frowned from a bruise on his knee but smiled when he heard me speak.
“It’s no problem Uro. Accidents happen.” He smiled. To tell you the truth I actually did it on purpose to get his attention.
“True; hey maybe we should get back to the others.” I said wearily.
“They’ll be fine for a while. Let’s explore a little. C’mon, I’ll protect you from any harm, I promise.” His voice was calm and kind.
“Fine, but if we die then I’m blaming you. Deal?” I asked.
“Deal.” He answered without hesitation. We wandered off until we heard a hissing noise.
“AH! SNAKE! RUN, RUN, RUN!” Cedoc yelled pulling my mane to get me to run. I began to run as soon as possible. We didn’t stop until we ran into my dad’s legs.
“Gonwa, sir… I- I…” Cedoc stuttered.
“You what?” Dad growled silently. Dad didn’t like me getting mixed up with foals’ troubles; especially colts…
“Daddy, Cedoc was protecting me from a snake…”
“And just what kind of snake was it?” Father questioned.
“Um… I think it was a… a… A RATTLESNAKE! Yeah!” I stammered.
“You didn’t see the snake did you; because we have no rattle snakes around here, Urosea. Go to your mother now.” Father snorted. I walked away solemnly, looking back to see my father yell at Cedoc. It was my entire fault that Cedoc was in trouble, me being the leader’s daughter and all.
“Mother, can you make father stop yelling at Cedoc? It’s mean and I don’t like him being mean… especially to the colt that I like.” I whined. Mother nipped my forelock lovingly.
“I’m afraid not dear, I may be the lead mare and his mate, but that gives me no right to interfere with his duties… even if he does over-react about pointless things such as running with you.” Mother sighed. I continued to watch father scold Cedoc until he was finished, now it was my turn to be scolded… great.
“Uro, you are not to speak, think, listen, learn, or even look at that colt any longer! He could have easily gotten you into trouble, god forbid let you go any further that you went into the forest!”
“But daddy I…”
“No Uro! That was not an option that was an order, you are not to play with him Urosea, is that clear?!”
“Yes father…” I held back the tears then ran off. I went to the place that father had forbid from the herd ever going, from ever crossing; the Endless Forest.
“Uro!” Cedoc whinnied so that only I would hear. I gasped out of fright and turned around, seeing it was only him. I released my tears and hugged him. He nuzzled me back, nipping my mane.
“I hate this place, I hate that stallion that I have to call father!” I wept. Cedoc told me to hush, making me go down in the tall grass.
“URO GET BACK TO THE HERD!” It was my father, I wanted to laugh but I was too scared to, so I kept silent. Cedoc stayed beside me, I continued to blush.
