Downton Abbey

From Wikipedia: Downton Abbey is a British-American period drama television series created by Julian Fellowes and co-produced by Carnival Films and Masterpiece. It first aired on ITV in the United Kingdom on 26 September 2010 and on PBS in the United States on 9 January 2011 as part of the Masterpiece Classic anthology.

The series, set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey, depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the post-Edwardian era — with the great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy. Such events depicted throughout the series include news of the sinking of the RMS Titanic in the first series; the outbreak of World War I, the Spanish influenza pandemic, and the Marconi scandal in the second series; and the Interwar period and the formation of the Irish Free State in the third series.



So, do people here watch Downton? I've watched since the first season first aired in Finland and I love the series. My whole family watches Downton, even my dad who usually isn't into period drama of any kind (except war drama). My favorite characters are Lady Sybil, Tom Branson, Bates, Anna, Mr. Carson, Matthew and of course Lady Violet (she's so awesome!)

I watch it when i am not working, i live in England though lol
What i like about it is its based on a Country house in Yorkshire (England) Which is where i live and through the shows, it has mentioned a few towns and cities i happen to live Verrrrry close to.
I like Lady Violet too, i agree, she awesomee.

i watch downton abbey too, although i jut wait for the dvd personally. so, as of now, i've seen season one and two. i've heard that somebody dies in season 3 (please don't tell me who) and i hope it's not any of my favorite characters.

the plot is well done and i enjoy watching this! totally something to watch on a cold rainy/snowing day when you just want to get cozy and watch a good flick.

and it's the same for me, my dad does watch it too, though those type of movies are not at all his style. but, if it's on, he doesn't complain....just watches lol.

my favorite characters are Lady Violet, Lady Mary, Lady Sybil, Matthew, Mr Carson, Anna Bates, and Bates.
