what did you think of the parents visit?

What did you think of the perents visit between zoey's loser step dad Mr. heffer?
i thought it was insane how he stood up to Neferet like that and how zoeys mom was just going along with it.

i really wanted nefferet to just rip him to shreds not only with her voice but her hands. it was horrible what the step-loser did and linda isn't any better!

I felt that it portrayed certain varieties of religious zealots very accurately tbh. It was amusing how well the Cast’s pegged this behavior in regards to mocking it. It was infuriating to read in the story, but that’s the reaction they were looking for. To lay bare the general cruelty of it.

Zoey's parents were terrible...And her mum...I thought she's smarter,I thought she will say something like: "No,that's my daughter!"...

The encounter between Neferet and Zoey's step-a-hole put something into stark relief about which I had wondered since reading Marked.

I'd wondered if the People of Faith were meant to satirize and symbolize all blind religious zeal, but Neferet's point-for-point condemnation seems to be more of the basic doctrines of Christianity, which both blind zealout and thinking believer generally ascribe to, than individual interpretations which seem to breed more hatred and hypocrisy than the basic tenets.

Then again, I could be analyzing too much, hoping for material for a major essay (hehe...the more exposure HoN gets, the better).

Also, I just started Chosen, so this interpretation could change with more reading.

to me it shows the most mature. i believe if ur a religion fanatic and use it to live ur daily life, you should always have respect for others opinions, just because if ur at that level in ur religion, your just way more mature than others.. look at every religion out there, they all have something in it that says be nice to others who doesnt think the way u do. Well not in those exact words... but i think the way step-loser acted, clearly shows who he is, and exactly how much of a step loser he is.

I for one am mad at the mom.. i wish she would act like her old self and give zoey the attention she use to she oh sooo craves.

i think the parents being allowed to see their chil;dren is nice. i mean, what good parent doesn't worry about their child while they're away? more or less i think there should have been an exception for zoey's mom and the step loser. but it was sweet of her grandma to drop off her bug. too bad sylvia couldn't stay longer.

Not the way Grandma described her.

According to Grandma, Zoey's mom has never thought for herself, preferring to let the men in her life define and think for her.


Thus, if Heffer died, Zoey's mom would just find another a-hole to latch onto, unless she made a conscious choice to be her own person, and another conscious choice to revive her relationship with her daughter.



On the religion question, I'd like the Casts to create another new character for HoN: a Christian who becomes a fledgling, and has to reconcile what he/she has believed for years with the apparent truth in front of him/her.

Or a minor Christian character who has the courtesy to greet Zoey with a fist-over-heart bow and a "Merry meet".

I think the visit showed just how much of a close-minded person he is. If Neferet was willing enough to keep her mouth shut about his religion, he should have at least done the same thing out of respect and courtesy. I understand and agree with what she said about being in someone's house and disrespecting their religion. There's always going to be that fanatic somewhere that won't stop preaching about what they believe even if they don't set a good example. I think he's supposed to stand for those people everyone comes across in life that tries to tell us that we're going to go to hell or we believe in a false religion. Neferet was a lot nicer than what I would have been, but who knows, maybe she knew that he wanted some kind of offensive response just so he could have a reason to hate vampyres even more.

Yea, the fact that Linda just let's him do the thinking for her is pathetic to me.

Gosh i was SO bad for Zoey! i thought my parents were bad, well, they're the best parents ever compared to hers. Step-looser just SUCKS. Go to hell men.

I really do not like Zoey's step dad. He, along with others like him, are the reason I don't follow the Christian faith (no offense to any Christians here). Stevie Rae's mom was so cool.

That is a very good way to go. I know some absolutely wonderful people of the Christian faith, and they don't force their views on me.

Yeah, well, talking about faith, you know, i believe in the earth and in the human, but my grand-father is REALY catholic. Like, really i say. The prob with that is that i respect him, ect, but he don't understand why i'm not really believer and it's kinda...too much >< So, i cannot juge her step-looser about his faith, but the thing is that
1. he didn't respect the OTHERS who aren't like him
2. He's so much... like, if you're not like me your EVIL
3. Her f-ing mother follow him like a little puppy and it's realy disappointing.
