Clash Of The Elves (X)

I nodded to him as Andea tossed more. I sighed and picked her up lightly and had her rest her head on my chest and sleep. She never get's any sleep. I walked over to him "I know your right but I can't help but wish. I know it doesn't matter but I just want a better life for her." I held her close to me while she slept with her thumb in her mouth.

"You're doing everything you can." I reached down and kissed Andea's forehead. "Sleep child," I whispered.

I couldn't help but smile when he did that. He cared about her and that was amazing. Andea woke up a little and kissed his cheek. "Daddy.." She wispered then stuck her thumb back into her mouth and went back to sleep with her head on my chest again. I kissed her on her head. I nodded "I know but sometimes it doesn't seem enough.."

"We always judge ourselves harder than others." I said.

I nodded at him "I'm so sorry she keeps calling you daddy....I don't know she keeps saying that." She started to slip and I bounced her back up to where she was before.

"Because I'm the one that left her on your doorstep." I smiled.

I smiled at him. I wasn't sure what to say "Why would you leave her with me? I'm sure there were other people that would do a better job then me and would know what they are doing." I kissed her on the head.

"Because you were too wild. You had nothing to anchor you down in the real world." I looked at her.

I walked over and laid Andea back down before I could wake her up. I covered her up and walked back to him "So you leave her with someone who is wild? How can you do that? Don't you care about her at all? She was your daughter and yet you gave her to a stranger. What would you have done if I didn't take her in? Or if I stayed wild? How can you even do that?" Horror showed in my voice as tears ran down my face. She was such a sweet girl and so smart. Even when I first met her I knew she was. How could he do this to his daughter...

"Did I ever say she was my daughter? I rescued her from a raid. Her parents were dead. I couldn't take care of her. It w obvious to me that you could." I stared at her. "Was I wrong?"

I looked back at her and back at Drizz't "How did you know I would take care of her? I was always fighting. How could that even begin to let you think I would?" Andea heard me and got up and walked over to me. She hugged my leg "Mommy no cry..." I smiled and knelt down and picked her back up. She wiped the tears from my eyes and laid her head down on my sholder. "It's alright Dea." I rubbed her back.

"Because you don't enjoy killing either." I walked to the wall and leaned against it.

I kissed dea's temple as she started to drift off again. This was our usual routine. I walked over to him "Hold her for a second." I let him take her then walked back to the kitchen and started to warm up some milk for her so that she would actually fall asleep. I put it in a sippy cup for her.

I held her. She'd grown since I'd firts found her.

I decided against the cup and got out a bottle just because it was easyer at this point. I handed it to him and helped lay Andea down in his arms. I would let him feed her. I went back in and made another. She loved warm milk and it would probably take 2 in order to get her full and put her to sleep.

I put the bottle in Ara's hand. "You seriously expect me to feed her?" I almost laughed.

There was little evidence that I could find of what happened. I found torn clothing which had been Aranel's. I knew this for her scent was still on the clothing but, I could also smell Donovans. I didn't want to think that he had attacked her, yet i'm not surprised. He has always had a hatred for the Dark Elves. I needed to talk to him soon and explain somethings. I began to head back to my hut contemplating my next steps. When I arrived I began to change into my battle gear, it just felt right to have it on at the time. I wore light chain mail that was very strong, I hung my bow across my back and went to grab my swords. That's when I noticed two things, one I could smell the scent of Donovan and two I was missing one of my swords. Why would he steal my weapon? He had some explaining to do.

I handed the bottle back to him "Yes I do. I am going to go change and someone still has to hold it for her so she doesn't drop it." I went to walk back up the steps. "She will tell you when she is done. Just feed her and I'll be right back. I ran up the steps to get changed."

I held the bottle for her. "You know Dea, you'd better be glad you're so cute or I wouldn't be doing this." I smiled.

I was about to drink and smiled "I miss you daddy....why don't you stay with mama?" I asked cutely while I began to drink the warm milk.

I put on a new shirt and a new pair of pants. I fixed my hair and made sure there was no scratches on me.

I didn't have time for this ridiculousness, I had to find Donovan. I ran out of my hut and went to the town hall where he usually was in the late afternoons. The Town hall was a big beautiful Light building with a goldish kind of outline. As I walked into the door I could smell delicious bread being made. I spotted Donovan eating in the far eastern corner.

"Donovan we need to talk. A lot has been going on lately and I have been trying to figure out some things. I know most of it but what I don't understand and I'm hoping you will have the right answer. Why am I finding your scent everywhere? Including on things that it shouldn't be on?"

My eyes got wide. She startled me. "Not yet," I told her. "The time's not right."
