PLease let me know what you think. I took the story from a RP That I did in another forum.
Chapter 1
Lev was going her patrol around the streets of New York City but she stays in the shadows so that no one sees her in her feral form. She likes this form the most. If the leader of shape shifters, Andrei, found out she was prowling the night for no reason she would get in major trouble.
She came to the end of the alley, when she noticed something. There were two men fighting, one of them was a shape shifter but she couldn't tell what kind. She jumped towards the men to put herself between the two. The human was so scared at the sight of a lion that he wet himself and ran away.
Lev transformed back to her human self and turned around.
"Are you--" Her words got caught in her throat. She was looking at Andrei's oldest and only son, Kirill. Her jaw hit the ground.
Lev stood there unable to believe the Kirill was standing in front of her. He was the total opposite of her. She was a sweet girl and very upbeat. Kirill was dark and almost depressed. He was tall with black hair that was spiked and forest green eyes. Everyone in Holla, shape shifter city, loves or hates him. All the female swooned when they saw him and tried to convince him that a certain species of shifters was better than the others.
Kirill and all of his family were special. They got to choose which animal they wanted to shift into. But they had to decide by a certain age. He hasn't chosen yet.
"What are you staring at?" he snapped.
"Nothing, sir," she said bowing.
"I suppose you are waiting for some form of appreciation?" Kirill asked.
"No sir," I said still not looking at him.
"Well good because I'm not going to give any." Now Lev doesn't get mad easily but Kirill was getting on her nerves.
"I'll leave then sir," she said backing away.
"Wait!" Lev paused. "Don't go yet." Kirill almost begged.
"How can I be of service sir?" Lev took a quick look at Kirill and her breathe caught in her throat. She had never realized how handsome Kirill was. She didn't hate him or like him but that's because she believe that she should be interested in anyone's life besides her own.
"What is your name? And what were you doing prowling the streets?" Kirill demanded.
In a small voice Lev said, "My name is Lev and I was just walking around, enjoying the night, sir."
"Will you please stop calling me sir?! I am not my father. I do not order people around like he does."
"Then what should I call you? It is forbidden for me to call you by your given name." Lev was getting confused. She thought that Kirill was like Andrei and wanted to rule Holla but with the way he is acting right now it is as if he could care less.
"Oh," he sounded depressed. "I forgot about that. Well, why don't we come up with some sort of "nickname" then?" He quoted nickname. "Do you have any suggestions?"
"MMM? How about Kane?” she replied.
"Uh. I like it. You may call me Kane then."
"If you don't mind me asking Kane, what are u doing here? I thought you were suppose to stay in Holla. As far as I know only Guardians like myself are allowed among the humans." Lev thought that what she said would make Kirill mad but his response sounded depressed.
"Yeah, I'm suppose to stay by my father's side but me .... I guess I needed a break and I always want to explore the human world," he explained.
"But it is dangerous. There are vampires, demons, and other creatures that walk among the humans. If they realized who you are, not only would your life be in danger but all of Holla," Lev was trying to be the voice of reason but she could imagine what life might be like for Kirill.
"I see your point but I just want one night of freedom. I want to do want I want to do, no what people tell me do. And I know that you are going to report me so just do it." Kirill sound like he was getting mad. At that moment a light bulb lit up in Lev's head.
"What if I escort you to your destination and back?" she suggested. "And I won't report you, if you don't report me. I'm not allowed to be in feral form when it is not necessary."
"I think we have a deal Lev." Kirill was giving her half of a smile that made her heart flutter.
Lev felt herself blush because she noticed that Kirill was checking her out.
"Where would you like to go Kane?" she asked shyly.
"Well I don't know this world, so where is there a good place to dance?" Lev took a minute to think this over. She thought of two clubs that weren't really that far away but they were both owned by vampires.
No one will recognize him at any place. His father pretty much keeps him locked up. Lev thought to herself. "Well, there are two clubs that I can think of. The first one is Club Fang and the second one is Ice. Both are owned by vampires but the let almost anyone in." She explained.
"Mmmm. Okay lead the way."
She looked at him confused. "To where?"
"Whichever one is the best to have fun. It really doesn't matter to me."
"But I've never been in them. I've past them while I'm on patrol." Lev looked at Kirill and realized he was getting impatient. "Alright this way, si... Kane." Lev led Kirill out of the alley and on to the almost deserted street, heading towards Ice.
When Lev and Kirill arrived at Ice, they could hear the music blasting. Lev had to pay for them to get in because Kirill didn't have any money on him. She followed him inside and kept a look out for trouble, she tried to make it look like she was caught in the beauty of the club, which was amazing. Everything was either blue or looked like ice. The chairs, tables, the bar, stage, all looked like ice. Anything else that was clear had a blue light in them. It felt like a winter wonder land, except there was no snow. Lev didn't want anything to happen to Kirill, since he was the next in line to rule Holla.
"Will you relax," Kirill shouted over the music. "What could happen here?"
Plenty. Thought Lev. "I'm just trying to make sure you are safe." That's all she needed. Kirill getting hurt or worse, dead, while she was with him. Her life would probably be taken away if anything happened.
"You forget. No one knows who I am. Nothing will happen and if it does, I will tell them I was here by myself."
"What about everyone who has seen us here together?" she questioned.
"No one will believe them. Come on. Let's dance."
Lev thought about this and saw no harm in dancing to one or two songs. She shrugged her shoulders and let Kirill lead her to the middle of the dance floor.
Chapter 2
After a couple of hours dancing, Lev and Kirill left Ice. The walk was a bit awkward for Lev. She had never been so close to a royal. She felt special but knew that if any of the other guardians caught her with Kirill she was in big trouble. She would get fired and sent to the breeding house. Lev shivered at that thought. No one is going to use my body. She kept trying to think of ways to get out of being around Kirill but he was his own magnet. She couldn't leave him, no matter how hard she tried.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Kirill's voice came so suddenly that it scared her.
"Just wondering how I going to explain why I walking around with you, just in case a guardian catches us."
“Why worry? That can't do anything to you." Lev wish that was true and what he said made her realize that Kirill had no idea how things went in Holla. "Why do you look so sad and frightened? I won't tell."
"You really don't know what will happen to me if we're caught."
"A slap on the wrist?"
"No! Much worse than that."
"Tell Me so that I will understand"
Should I tell him or should I keep my mouth shut. Lev was about to say something when Nick, a fellow guardian and her boss came into view.
Lev grabbed Kirill’s arm and pulled him into the alley.
“Why did you do that?” Kirill was ribbing his arm and had a puzzled look on his face.
“I just saw my boss, and he does know what you look like. I pray that he didn’t see us. I am a way from my area. I knew this was a bad idea.” Lev was shaking with fear. She didn’t want to go to the breeding house.
“Hey,” Kirill placed a gentle hand on her arm. “It’s going to be okay. So far it seems like he didn’t see us. Just……” He didn’t get to finish is sentence.
“There you are. I knew I saw you Lev,” Nick said, blocking the entrance to the alley. “What are you…” he stopped like he just noticed who was standing next to Lev. He got down on one knee, “Sir, I did not see you there. Please forgive my rudeness.”
“Yeah, whatever.” Kirill removed his hand and acted like he didn’t care that Nick didn’t show respect right away or not.
“May I ask why you are here, sir, and why Guardian Lev is with you and not at her post?”
Lev stood there unable to answer any questions. How was she going to explain that she was just trying to protect Kirill from harm?
“Um…” Lev was having trouble finding the right words. “Well…”
“Guardian Lev saw me walking by her post,” Kirill spoke up, “and I’m assuming she followed me to make sure I was safe or something. I’m glad she did follow.”
“Really? Why is that sir?” Nick questioned.
“As it turned out, there were a couple guys who wanted to hurt me. Guardian Lev saw this and jumped in before they could. If it wasn’t for her, those guys might have killed me. She was about to escort me back to Holla”
Nick turned his gaze on Lev. “Lev? Is that what happened?”
Not trusting her voice, Lev gave a nod.
“Good work. After you escort His Highness back to Holla, I would like to talk to you in my office.”
“Okay.” Lev barley whispered.
“Good night sir,” Nick bowed to Kirill and left, merging into the crowd.
Once Nick was out of sight, Lev turned and looked at Kirill. Without realizing what she was doing, Lev threw her arms around Kirill and hugged him.
Kirill felt warm and safe, something Lev had never experienced. She never even felt it with her parents; then again she never met her parents. Lev stepped back and just stared into those green eyes. “Thanks,” she said awkwardly. “You totally save my skin.”
“Not a problem. I think we are about even.” Kirill was still staring at her but he was staring at her like he has just noticed her. They fell into a comfortable silence while they just looked at each other.
Lev felt like she wanted to just curl up into him and let him hold her for the rest of eternity. That’s crazy. He doesn’t want me. I’m a just a guardian. There are other shifters that would be better for him. But she wanted him. Lev shook her head, “I better take you back to Holla before I really get in trouble.”
“I think I have to agree.” He sounded like he didn’t want to have to go back Holla just yet but Kirill started to go in the direction they had came from earlier. Lev walked along side him, taking quick glances at Kirill as they walked.
Neither one of them said a word until they reached the gate to Holla. To the humans and any other creature, it looked like a brick wall but once Lev pressed her hand against the wall, a golden gate appeared and opened. They both walked through the gate and entered the beautiful city of Holla.
Holla looks beautiful when you first enter, like a kingdom from some fairy tale, but once you go beyond the castle you will know this is no fairy tale. For that area is run downed and is where low-lifes like guardians and breeders live.
Lev escorted Kirill to the gates of the palace.
"Well thanks for the fun night." Kirill said as they approached.
"It was an honor, sir." Lev said going back to formal speak.
"Don't call me that." Kirill hissed.
Lev whispered, "I have to. If I call you any other name, it could be considered disrespectful. Plus if you screw up once, you’re sent to the breeding house."
"What is up with you and the breeding house? That place raises the young of guardians. It helps you."
Oh man! He doesn't know the truth about the house. Should I tell him or should I let him go on believing the lie. Lev thought. After about a minute, she decided not to tell him because she could get into trouble. "Have a nice day sir." She said and left Kirill standing with his mouth hanging open.
