Unwind

I came up to a store, some store full of things I needed. Before getting in camera range I put on a hat to cover my face and made sure no one would notice me. If I was seen. . . let's just say I wouldn't see Arizona. Entering the store I realized what it was, what the heck, might as well.

i grabbed some aspirin off the shelf and shoved it into the pocket of my coat i couldnt just leave straight away, they would know i had stolen something and send the cops after me then i would get unwound. the very thought sent shivers down my spine and i continued to brows the shelves making sure i kept my head down and not in view of any adults or cameras

I went to the food section smiling at the food I picked some off and looked at it like I was really buying. Seemed good, I slipped a good amount into my bag, next was medicne and matches. First to the matches, I walked down the lanes till I found it. I got six packs and stuffed them, so what if camera's saw me? It's take a while to look over and see me, I'd be gone by tomorrow and I was already wanted. I slowly walked down to the medicene the only area with bad cameras, I took off my hat and shook my hair looking.

I looked up and freaked a bit. "Opps," I said getting my medicine and looking around for an escape. I saw a girl and something seemed like I wasn't the only one. I put my medicine away, "where to go?" I muttered looking.

I smiled. "Hey girl, wanna go already?" I asked eyeing the restrooms.

i seen a girl run into the store... she looked like she was new to running, i could hear the sirens coming so i quickly walked over to her, there was another girl crouched beside her i knelt down beside them "get up and quickly follow me, but what ever you do dont make it obvious that your running from something" i then began to walk out of the store

I blinked. "Err I had another plan? And they will automaticly blame you maybe!" I sighed and cursed following her, I was going to regret this.

i snuck into an ally i had about 5 different entrances to my hideout just so no one would be able to find it i turned to see if the other unwinds were there still "in here i whispered" and sucked in my gut and slipped into a very small opening in the wall then down a man hole in the ground. when we got down i relaxed a little "phew that was close" i said turning around to them "so anyway im Rach"i said holding out my hand "and this is my humble abode" i rased both my arms and turned around showing them the place "oh and dont worry i have beds and food... and your names if you dont mind"it came out a little bit more stern than i expected it to

I smiled, "Jess, and don't worry, master cook." I said looking around.

i smiled "jess thats a nice name, so how old are you? and how long have you been running for?" i asked. I continued walking to an opening where i had brought down a sofa bed and offered them a seat i sat down opposite them

I sat down. And cocked my head to the side trying to remember, I just quoted a newspapper. "'Jess Lake age 14 ranaway from home in fear of being unwound, if found call the cops to be imediatly unwound.' That article was dated three years ago so I'm 17." I said calculated.

"so you have been running for a while then?" i asked i smiled at her again, "well just so you know you are welcome to stay here if you need and if you do decide to stay i will show you 4 of the 5 entry points so you can come and go as you please... i have had quite a few people come through here in the past years" i picked up the duffle bag i had from earlier and pulled out a coffee bun "bread?" i asked with a mouth full and holding some up to her "its fresh"

I nodded. "I prefer bread over bacon any day!" I said taking one. "Say? How long have you been running eh?" I asked.

"well im coming to the end to tell you the truth, ive got 3 more months until im 18" i said it with joy in my voice "but i have been running since i was 13 so nearly 5 years, it was kind of like a birthday present i think... i blew out my candles and that then went to go to the bathroom and could hear my parents talking about nabbing me once the party was over so i grabbed my things and left, and i didnt look back" i stared off into nothing as i thought about my birthday that day, i really had a good life i thought... but i guess i was wrong

I nodded. "I just turned 17 really so a whole year untill I'm free." I said thinking of my little brother.

I ran through an abandoned ally way with August stumbling behind me
"August-" I started

"I'm trying!" She cried

"Shh!" I hushed her

I stopped in my tracks "October. We have been on the run for three days from these stupid cops. Can we please-"

"No. We have to keep going"

"But I'm-"

"I know."

"Well then can we st-"

"No August. We can't. It was your idea to go inside the bookstore, and then they saw us. It was your idea that made us have to run like crazy again"

"But I-"

"I know. Listen, lets just get some more distance and then we can rest" I said taking hold of her hand and started running again.

"shhhh" i said quietly. i could hear someone walking around close to one of my entrances "wait here" i got up and tiptoed over to the small opening there was someone hunched over a bit trying to catch their breath i could see it was a teenage girl what are the odds of this happening i thought to myself i was usually in this place on my own or if i had company it was 1 or 2 at a time and here was another teen running must be that time of year i giggled at my thought "psst, over here" i whispered to the girl

I blinked and nodded, nibbling my bread quietly. This seemed so off, I hardly ever meet unwinds that are on their own for so long or so many, wow.

i noticed that the other girl had started talking, she was really shaken up by it all i guessed
