Do you think Zoey should have told her friends about the way she wanted her birthday to be?

I agree with you, but she kind of tried to explain that she didn't like that, but they really didn't listen to her but she shouldn't of faked liking her gifts.

i know i would've felt hurt if she didnt like my gift, but telling them about it would've been better to save the conflict and that little gift from Heath from being too harsh

i would've told my friends from the beginning and kept reminding them a week before my birthday we probably had a cool discussion about it and a better understanding why

As I recall she did tell one of her friends and she already had a gift that had more sentimental value than anll the others "gifts" combined. Then she died. Honestly, Zoey had other things on her mind and people who don't look forward to their birthdays tend to forget all about them.

If she really loved her friends and Erik and they really meant so much to her she wouldn't have lied and made them feel so embarrassed when they all found out that she hated her presents. They would have totally felt like that shouldn't have bothered after they found out but she would have had the birthday she asked for if she had have said something.

she told Stevie Rae and it would probably work out that Stevie Rae would have told them, but she didn't count on her dying, nobody did, so I guess she kinda forgot about it after what happened

See, that argument only works if said person had told someone less than a best friend but not her actual best friend. They're roommates, they talk about anything and everything. I'm sure the topic came up at some point and Zoey felt more comfortable in confiding with Stevie Rae than any of the others. There is a greater bond of trust between those two. Stevie Rae saw sides of Zoey, the others didn't just because they shared the same room for a month.

Also, contrary to many beliefs, Zoey never loved Erik. After a month, she still didn't consider their relationship "official" and was already making googly eyes at another guy. It also took her six books to find his ugly side and decide he wasn't worth it.

ya, erik's a doof head, but that's out of subject. She should've found the time to tell her friends. Like a heartfelt conversatoin. That would've worked.

Definitely should have told them. Honesty is the best policy, right? She should have dropped a hint of some sort Maybe she should have told Damien about it and got him to spread it within her friends without making it look like she was expecting gifts. I think Damien would have understood without thinking she was spoilt and shallow. And it was kinda stupid to let Erik read the note from Heath and wear the god damn bracelet in front of him after he knew who it was from. Zoey! You need to think more!

Yeah, I agree with you, Shannedo. I, too, think she should've said something before her b-day. I understand she had a lot going on, with Stevie Rae being undead and so, but she should've hinted her friends she doesn't like the birthmas presents.

Like I said before, she did hint to one of her friends about, but they died before they could spread the word and over the next month Zoey was more obsessed about finding this friend and evidently it was not the most important thing on her mind. Why worry about presents when your best friend is out killing people to survive and loosing her humanity doing so? Priorities.
