Virus.

Okay so, this is the opening of my story I'm planning on to write and make into book. Feedback would be amazing and this is only a first draft. :]


It was dusk. The sky was a deep shade of red, as if the world was bleeding. The streets of London were empty, apart from a lone figure standing outside of a small, battered-looking coffee shop. She looked up at the sky and shuddered, pulling a small white scarf around her neck. She had to hurry before they came out. Her long brown hair whipped furiously across her pale face as she fought through the wind. The sun was almost gone and she wasn’t even nearly home. Panic began to take over as she lost all her dignity and began to run down the seemingly endless roads. People looked from their house windows, none daring to open their door and invite her in. She was going to die. She knew it. Everyone knew it.

I know the sequence of this doesn't make sense, but If I finish this story I may get it published. So I'll give you sneak peaks every now and then. Here's another I just wrote. This is the first draft, bearing in mind :]



It was a virus. A deadly mutating virus… It formed in the late 1700’s when they were testing new, yet dangerous medical drugs on prisoners. The virus would combine itself with a strand of DNA, changing it completely. It would begin to make you go insane at first; your hearing heightened, your vision heightened, your sense of smell heightened.
Then after a few days the rusty metallic smell of blood would rush into your senses making you blind. It’d eat away at your soul, slowly draining very part of your humanity. You’d be a mindless monster, clawing its way through humanity one at a time.
You’d steal their blood for survival; you’d kill anyone who stood in your way. You’re only weakness was the UV rays of the sun alive from six in the morning to seven in the evening.
Otherwise you were a killing machine.

Now people dismiss this virus as a myth. It never existed, it was never true.
If it’s such a myth…
Where did the term ‘vampire’ come from?

That's really, really good. The first paragraph that you wrote here was really good, it was interesting and it gripped your attention with the way you described things. Keep it up (:

It was in my blood; the virus. My heart skipped a beat as I read the old newspaper clippings from the past 300 years. I couldn’t believe what I was reading and why my family had kept such a horrible secret. I looked at the family photo on my bed side table. They all seemed so normal. My sister, my mum, my dad; everyone…

I studied the photo closer. My skin was so pale, even back then it looked almost translucent in the sunlight. I took the small wooden frame into my shaking hands and squinted.

I was different.

I'm writing it in little bits at the moment and I'll join them up as I expand on it. I'm getting better at writing through my writers block because I get it a lot due to my mental state but hey! There's improvement.

That's great! I'm not good at dealing with writer's block xP but I usually manage to get through it somehow.

I've found the easiest way to get through writers block is to just write.
Sounds silly but it works for me. I just write a random story, I have loads I haven't finished because it's just my imagination being silly, but it helps me to concentrate on the bigger things. I mean I wrote this last night after writing a little dark horror story.
