"Chase, you are so friggin' weird, and jealous!" I felt hot tears of anger running down my cheeks. I turned and fled. Why did he get to me so quickly and easily on the stupidest topics?

"Em..I didn't mean it." I put my hand down that had been raised to grab her.
Dammit, I had ruined things yet again. Our friendship. A few people were lingering around after overhearing some of the outburst. I just put my head down and took two steps. Thats when I saw him. He was standing a few feet away from our table. How had I not seen him stop and stand there? He blended into the crowd perfectly.
He was ignoring the giggling girls. He was staring at something. Someone. Emily, who was pacing circles in front of the door, trying not to cry, but she failed and fled into the school.
I growled and strode angrily towards him. "Don't you dare touch her."

I turned with surprise and felt my face fall. "What the devil are you talking about?"

"You know what I'm talking about. I heard what's going to happen."

"I don't know what is wrong with you, but--"

I went to shove him, but my eyes froze in shock. My hand..."You're a.."

"Don't say it."

"Just...stay away from Emily." I jerked my hand back and ran straight for the doors.

When I had failed at holding my tears back I had ran to the second floor bathroom, no one would know I was here. It was the middle of the school and I had about fifteen minutes before the first bell would ring. I could hold out for that long and be able to go to class and look normal, right?
I hoped so.
I ripped a piece of toilet paper off the roll and started dabbing at my eyes. I was sure my makeup had ran and when the paper came back, black I sighed. I would have to fix it somehow.
I unlocked the stall and walked over to the sink, running the water so I could rub the rest of my eyeliner off my cheeks.
A sudden chill on the back of my neck made me freeze. It felt so strange.
And flor a split second, I thought I caught a glimpse of someone behind me, but when I turned no one was there.
But if Ihad to swear to it, I could have sworn that it looked just like David Rodriguez.

When I was done cleaning up my makeup it was almost time for the bell to ring. I grabbed my bag off the floor and put the strap over my shoulder. There wasn't doors for the bathrooms, they were just open hallways so I just walked out and blended in with the crowds.
"Miss!"
I turned and when I saw who was talking to me, my heart completely fluttered.

"I saw you were crying earlier and I wanted to see if you were okay." I gave her a soft smile. Why was I bothering? She was nothing to me, I didn't even know her! But there was something..
"I'm David."

"Uhh..." Did I really just say that? He probably thought I didn't even know how to talk. "I'm Emily?" It sounded like a question. "I'm fine..you shouldn't have came looking for me. Besides the bell is about to ring so you better go, you might not make it in time." And now I was babbling. Great.

I chuckled lightly to myself, low enough that she wouldn't even hear me. "Well I didn't go through the trouble, I saw you come in here and I waited."
I bit my tongue on that one. I wasn't anywhere near here when she had came up to this floor. I had been downstairs and outside the whole time, having a face off with that protective friend of hers. Hopefully she wouldn't remember or have payed enough attention to realize that I had just told her a lie.

My eyes narrowed, but I didn't say anything. "Well thank you for waiting." I looked down at the floor and as I did, the first bell rang. "Well I guess you better get going, we don't want to be late." I turned and took a slow step towards the middle staircase.

"Wait," I went to grab her arm, but them I remembered what had happened with her friend, earlier. "Uhh sorry, I didn't mean to yell, but can you possibly tell me where this classroom is?" I held out my schedule to her.

"I really have to go, I don't have time, but you..." I froze. "Have the same class as me. I frowned. Did he plan this, or did he just make it up as he went along? "Just follow me." Chase was going to be very angry. He also had this class and if he saw me walking into the classroom with David, there was no telling what he might do. He got really irrational when it came to things like this.

"Oh, really?" I smiled apologetically. I was scaring her. I could sense it. Humans normally were afraid of me. I got used to it over the years. "Do you mind if I accompany you or would you rather I go first that way we don't arrive at the same time?"

I stopped. "How did you..?"
How would he know I was thinking about something like that?
"Err Chase is in this class..and I'm just afraid for your sake that if he sees you he'll yell at you again. And you being new and all, that isn't good." I was babbling. But every word I said was true.

"I understand." I smiled as I walked past her, with sort of a gloating look on my face. When I walked into the classroom, I immediately saw her friend. He had his foot across a desk in front of him, and the look in his eyes said it was reserved. I knew it was for Emily. I gave him a curt wave and took a seat next to it, just to make him mad. And the only seat left was next to me and it was just for her.

I waited outside the door for a few seconds before stepping through and when I did, I regretted it. The only seat left was in front of Chase. But it was next to David. I bit my bottom lip. So much for being careful.

I had to pretend I was coughing, that way I wouldn't end up in hysterics. Chase's face was priceless. And Emily's even more so as she slipped into the seat next to me. She hadn't wanted this, but I didn't do it on purpose. No one had come in after me or before her, so there was no way this could have possibly been avoided.

It took all of my strength to not ask someone to switch seats with David. I didn't want him anywhere near me or Emily. I mean, how could someome like him be possible? He shouldn't even be here, much less in school. He shouldn't even be on this earth. And I couldn't tell anyone what I knew because that would ruin everything. Not just for him, but for me. If I told people he was a...I couldn't even think the word, much less accept it as a possibility. If I told anyone, I would be committed into the nearest mental facility.

The teacher, Mr. Gerow handed out papers, and reading lists with a no nonsense manner. This year was already off to a horrible start. I had already read most of the stuff on the list so I relaxed a bit.

This was too easy. I had read everything years ago.

This meant I actually had to do work.

During english, since it was the first day, Mr. Gerow just assigned that we start reading Bronte. I would do it later. The rest of the class was free.
"Chase?" I asked as I turned around. The look on his face almost made me want to forget that I had said anything, but he glanced over. "Do you want to come over and study later?" I wasn't sure what other classes we had together, but I was sure we would hang out later anyway.

I was kind of hoping he would say no. I loved having Chase around and I had offered, but if he was going to be in a sour mood then I really wasn't in the mood for it.
The rest of class went by quickly and when the bell rang I was glad. I grabbed my bag and headed for the door. I usually waited for Chase, but I really didn't want to be around him right now.
