♠Hell Girl (PRIVATE)♠

Somewhere in the vast sea of the Internet, there's a website that can only be accessed at the stroke of midnight. Known as the Jigoku Tsushin, rumor has it that if you post a grudge there, the Jigoku Shoujo will appear and drag whoever torments you into the inferno. Very little is known about the girl - all we know for sure is that she lives with her equally enigmatic grandmother, that three magical straw dolls accompany and serve her, and that whenever a posting on the Jigoku Tsushin moves her, she becomes the Jigoku Shoujo.

To put it in english: If someone is bothering you, no matter what the problem is, you type the person's name into the space on the website, at the stroke of midnight and the girl from Hell will take revenge on them for you.
You have a choice. You are given a straw doll with a crimson ribbon around its neck. If you untie it, your revenge will be made, but once you die, your soul belongs to Hell.

I pushed the hospital door open and looked at Yoko. She was never going to walk again, never going to talk or even move on her own again. She was dead. Well not totally. The only thing keeping her alive were the machines she was hooked up to.
"Yoko," I whispered as I took the chair next to her bed. She didn't respond, her chest barely raising as she "breathed."
"I saw him again, today, Yoko. Don't worry, he doesn't know that I know. So I should stay alive a little bit longer. But don't worry, I promise I will make him pay for what he did to you!" I felt tears running down my cheeks. "I have to go now, Yoko, but I'll be back tomorrow after work, I promise."

Seeing Yoko like that always killed a little bit of me inside. She was my best friend, the one who always understood me.
I was a couple minutes late for work, but I could make it without him noticing. Hopefully.
I pushed the door open of the little Cafe I worked at and went behind the counter. Good, he was back in his office.
"Hey Yoko," it was Roger. He was a Frenchman who had come to Japan a few years ago. He spoke in fluent Japanese so he automatically got the job.
"Hey," I muttered.
"You went to see her, again, didn't you?"
I nodded and punched in my code on the register computer to log in my time.
"Is she any better?"
I shook my head. "No, and she'll never be the same again."

As I sat back in my chair, I overheard little bits of the conversation between Wakaba and Roger. My fists tightened at her voice. Wakaba. I hated her.
Roger was harmless, but Wakaba, no. She meddled too much.
I stood up and pulled on my tie to make it tighter. I had to make an appearance. I was the manager after all.
I opened the door and walked out to the front, so I could survey everything.

I turned slowly and smiled, "Hi, Ryo." I had to force myself to come this far and talk to him.
"I'm sorry I was late." My way of testing his temper.

I raised my eyebrow. I didn't know she was late. Was she testing me?
I turned halfway around. "Don't let it happen too often." I had to keep my voice even. I had to be calm. I couldn't lose my temper with her.

All I had to do was hold out until 8 tonight. "Yes, sir."

I watched from across the street, my reflection casting on the window of the cafe. The manager took one look at me, smiled and in the blink of an eye, I was gone.

TIMESKIP~ 5 hours later.

As the day wrapped up, even hours after I had seen her, I couldn't get those eyes out of my mind. Her eyes were blood red. She was beautiful that girl, I didn't know who she was. I had only seen her for a second, but that was enough to get her face burned into my memory.
I heaved myself out of my chair and stretched, stifling a yawn at the same time. "You guys should probably call it a night." I called to Roger and Wakaba. They were the only ones that worked late and helped me close up.

"Okay." I said in a normal tone. I had mastered making my tones even, not letting a hint of anger through.
I lifted my smock over my head and folded it, putting it in my spot under the counter. "See you tomorrow Roger. Good night Ryo."
I put on a smile, fake, but still sweet and headed for the Employee Only Exit.
I was getting closer to Ryo without wanting to, but I was succeeding none the less. And once I got him to trust me, and I got some proof, I would make him pay.

Something was up. Wakaba was being too nice, too understanding. And soon, she would get too close to knowing the truth, I had to make sure no word got out, it would ruin my name and business. But if it came down to it, I would stop her.
I grabbed my coat and slung it over my shoulder. Roger was lingering out front with a cigarette danging between his lips. He was being normal, sad about Yoko, but that was understandable. We were all sad. Well, that's what I had to convince myself anyway.

I stopped outside the door of my apartment complex. Things were just so strange now that Yoko was definitely not coming back. I looked as a couple girls walked by. I usually didn't listen to passing people's conversations, but they were so loud.
"Did you hear about the Hell Correspondance?"
"The website that helps you get revenge?"
"Yeah, but the site can't be accessed until midnight. You just type in the person's name and the Hell Girl will come and get them and send them to Hell!"
"I heard you died if you used that site though."
And then they were gone. And then, I got curious.

"Come on," I whispered, looking through my Google search engine. Maybe the site was fake, because I couldn't find any links. I sighed and got up, I needed some water. I went into the kitchen and ran the tap, looking out the window at the night sky. I could barely sleep anymore.
11:59.
I quietly walked back to my chair and then on the list, I saw the most viewed link. Hmm, it wouldn't hurt to look. I clicked.
12:00.
The screen went black and a flame appeared. I gasped and jumped back.
Above the text box was a small quote. I squinted to see it and when I read it, my eyes widened.

I made the walk home as long as possible. I had been wandering around downtown for hours. I even made a note to walk past Wakaba's building a few times, I didn't know where exactly she lived, but I knew it was somewhere in this building. The back of my neck pricked, like something dangerous was nearby. I turned and saw the same girl from earlier. The one that had been standing outside and had suddenly disappeared. But this time I could actually get a close look at her.
She had long black hait, and blood red eyes. She was young, but the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. She wore a black school uniform. No school had uniforms like that around here. "Hey." I raised a hand to wave. But she didn't hear me. She was looking at one of the widows above, I turned to see which one, and when I turned back around, she was gone.
I shivered and popped the collar on my coat, heading towards the subway. It was time I went home.

My finger lingered over the text box, should I do it? Screw it.
I tuped in his name, carefully.

But now was the hard part. Could I actually do it? Get revenge..My mouse circled over the send button. What if it was a scam?
I couldn't do it. I was too chicken. I clicked out of the page, missing my chance for tonight. Because when I decided to go back, the page was gone.

The next day at work, I kept a close eye on Wakaba. She was acting stranger than usual. Too careful. It was too planned. I hated knowing that she was thinking, she could be thinking about me or something that I did. Did she know?

I felt his eyes on me. They burned into the back of my neck, giving me chills. It felt so unsatisfying that I had to keep wiping down the counter and pretend nothing was wrong.
Thankfully it was almost closing time. Then I could go home and relax.

"Wakaba, could you stay for a few minutes?" I asked as I saw Roger slip out front for his usual after-work-cigarette. "I want to talk to you about something." This wasn't exactly true, but it wasn't exactly a lie. I wanted to see if she knew anything, that way I would know if I had to shut her up or not.

I sighed and nodded. I waved to Roger as he put out his cigarette and turned to leave. He was lucky. He didn't know anything. Innocent.
I lifted my apron over my head and folded it, putting it in its place under the counter before making my way, cautiously to the back of the cafe. "Yes, Ryo?" I asked in a normal, curious tone.

"I know you have been upset since Yoko's accident and I just wanted to see how you were doing."

I almost lost it. It wasn't an accident.
"I'm fine Ryo, I'm really tired so is it okay if I head on home?" If I didn't get out of here soon, I would lose it. My hands were already shaking with nervousness.

"Sure, but if you ever want to talk, you know where to find me." I smiled. This smile was real. She would find me and I would take care of her. The End.

"Sure." I managed as I turned out of the room. I had to get out of here or I was going to lose it. I was already getting warm, and my hands were shaking as they grabbed my purse that I kept stashed under the counter during work. I was scared.
I waved shakily before opening the door and heading towards my apartment complex. I didn't live far from the cafe, but it seemed to take me forever to get home.
I pushed past the door man that looked at me questioningly, but he didn't stop me. I kept going, pushing the elevator button repeatedly, "Come on!" I said until the doors finally opened. There wasn't anyone in the elevator and I took a sigh of relief as the doors closed behind me. And that's when the tears started flowing.

Ryo didn't follow her this time. He didn't need to. Because he was careful after Yoko's accident, he could already predict Wakaba's actions. She was shaking so he had scared her enough to get her off of his back for at least a little while longer.
Tomorrow was her day off, so he didn't have to deal with her little act.
