House of Night -- New York City

I didn't wanna cry so I just sat on the floor.

I smiled as she took my hand,
"Okay then, you little expert, what do we do now?" I asked.

"Hey! don't call me little!" I glared at him.

"Well it is kind of true" I smirked, resting my chin on top of her head for a moment then removing it and looking down at her, emphasizing the tilt on my head when I did.

I grinned and pushed into him.
Bloody annoying he was.

I walked around the gardens,

I noticed a girl wandering around the gardens in the corner of my vision, ofcourse I didn't follow up by actually bothering to talk to her.

I saw Gabriel's gaze flicker quickly to a girl walking around the garden and then back to the air infront of him.
"Do you like her?" I grinned, pushing into him again.

"Jo, you've known me for your entire life, do youreally think I'm about to waiste my breath on someone like that?"

"Like what?" I asked, and then I understood, "She hasn't got an affinity has she? You can smell it, she's empty.
God, you're so shallow some times Gabriel"

I glared at her for a minute and moved my gaze back to the air infront of me as we continued walking, her hand in mine.
This was why I liked Jo, she helped me avoid unwanted conversations.

I noticed a guy and girl walking around together, they were holding hands but the atmosphere wasn't right, they were either pretending to be together or they were experiencing new feelings. I sighed and walked past them

The girl passed us ans sighed, I wondered what wason her mind.
She was pretty and I would tell Gabriel to go talk to her, if I didn't already know what his responce would be.

I looked down at Jo, my brow curious I wanted to know what she was thinking.
My telepathy wasn't like most peoples, well those who were lucky enough to be gifted with it, I could choose to use it or not, turn it on and off, and I chose not to enter Jo's mind to often, I only felt intrusive, itonly felt wrong when it was her mind.

The girl looked at me as I walked past but the guy didn't. Why would I care what they thought about me..I was only the 6th former with no gift from Nyx who still hadn't changed or died

Well, I'd just have to take that first step for him, I gripped Gabriel's hand tighter and pulled him allong after the girl.
"Hi" I smiled to the 6th former, see they were even in the same year.

I inwardly groaned as Jo pulled me after the girl.

I looked up, they were talking to me, "Hello" I said smiling nicely

"Hi, I'm Jo" I smiled, "And this grumpy lump is Gabriel" I smiled, elbowing hims lightly in the ribs.

I glared down at Jo, I didn't want to talk to this girl, atractive as she was I wasn't one for conversation.

I smiled, "I'm Rose" I told them holding my hand out to shake theirs

I shook her hand.

I stared at her hand for afew moments, refusing to have Jo make me do this, then she elbowed me again and I knew it would just be easier to comply.
I shook Rose's hand.

I smiled, "So.." I said, "Are you new here..I havn't seen you around before"

I smiled, "Aww, that's sweet that he'd just move and leave everything behind to make you feel better"

I was going to kill Jo for this.
I turned my head away from them and looked out at the garden.

"Yeah, well he wasn't leaving much behind." I said, noticing that he had turned his gaze away.
I don't think he too comfortable with the direction the conversation had turned to.

Sorry I said to him in my mind, I know he didn't like reading my thoughts but I had learned how to comunicate with him, I jsut had to concentrate my thoughts really hard on him and he would pick it up. I slipped my hand into his.

I ignored her appology and contact, just staring back out to the garden.

"He's just having a bad life" I told Rose, I was getting really annoyed at his refusal to even talk infront of people, let alone to them.

I smiled, "It's ok" I said, so he didn't like me, no big deal, I had friends..well I used to have friends until they all completed the change and left

I was barely even registering the conversation now, my mind just drifting in and out of the heads of passing students.

"No it's not, he's such a miserable grump when he's around other people.
It's not good. People just give up on him, he has no friends and people think he's a freak because of it. And he's really not.
He's funny and kind and sweet, and slightly crazy at times" I grinned, nuging him. "He should let people see that side of himself, not just give them the freaky-Sylar side"

I was sitting under a tree. I sighed. I already knew what was going to happen.

I laughed, "I love the program heroes" I said before I could stop myself, I looked at them, "I'd be his friend but he hasn't said anything to me" I said shrugging, I looked at him, "I bet he could be a good friend if he'd give people a chance"

I quickly ran past Rose and two other people I didn't get a good look at. I kept running and my back and head still hurt and I sat by a tree and coughed.
