| I'm writing a book/story called The Beginning. The characters are Hailey Klimt, 14; Timmy Mord, 14; Vienna Klimpt, 17.
Chapter 1
I stared at the street through my 2nd story window. The light was just starting to fade even though it was about 5:30 p.m. My knees were pulled up under my chin, and I pushed my hair out of my face. My hands brushed the faded blue curtains as I put my arms around my body.
“Something is about to happen.” Those words danced through my head as I got up. “Timmy is waiting,” I thought to myself as I pulled off my shorts and blue shirt and put on my dress. It was very simple, sea-green with just straps. The bodice was clingy, but the skirt hung loose.
“I’m 13. I can have fun with my best friend if I want to. Mom and Dad are in Paris, and they would never care if I went to the school dance.” All these thoughts ran through my head as I put my hair up in a ponytail. I put on the high heels I borrowed from Vienna. My sister had 10 pairs of dress shoes, so she didn’t care if I wore one.
I glanced in the mirror as I walked out of my room. My black hair was slightly wavy, and my dark blue eyes shone with excitement. My heavily tanned skin clashed slightly with my dress, but I didn’t care. I puckered up my face at the sight of my small but sharp nose. The doorbell chimed at that moment. I let my face go slack and hurried down the stairs.
I opened the door, and there stood Timmy. I gave him a look of distaste. He had on a navy blue t-shirt and faded jeans. “At least they don’t have holes in them,” I thought. It was the same old Timmy. I suppressed a smile.
“Come on. Vienna is in the car. Let’s go,” I said, trying to stifle a laugh.
It didn’t work. I realized then that I didn’t have my necklace. It was a silver fairy that Timmy had gotten me for my birthday two months ago. It had the name Hailey, my name, engraved in the back. I touched my neck without thinking about it. “I need my necklace,” I muttered absentmindedly. He understood.
I jumped up the stair, and I could vaguely hear him following. I finally got to my bedroom and found the dresser drawer that I hid the necklace in. As soon as the drawer was fully open, fear and panic seized me. It took me a moment to realize these weren’t my emotions.
They were Vienna’s.

I couldn’t breath. Nausea rolled through me. “You need to get to Vienna,” my mind screamed at me. I ran toward my bedroom door faster than I thought possible. I dashed out into the hallway and was halfway down the stairs before I remembered Timmy. I glanced back as I rounded the corner. He was right behind me, ready to catch me if I fell. I didn’t fall. I stopped in a split second as realization slapped me in the face.
“Oh my god, I need to get to Vienna,” I whispered barely loud enough for me to hear.
Timmy swerved around me, and as he did, he grabbed my arm. “Run.” He said it in such a commanding voice that I obeyed without consent.
I threw the door open and ran toward the dark red ’98 bug. When I saw the door was open, I ran faster. I beet Timmy there by about 10 seconds, long enough for me to see Vienna’s tear streaked face and for her to whisper, “Mom and Dad.”
My arms want limp. I felt my knees buckle and then I couldn’t feel my legs. My entire body was useless as I fell back toward the cement of the driveway. I managed to squeak one pitiful word before my body hit the pavement.

Chapter 2
“It’s really warm here for the winter weather back home.” I thought as I opened my eyes. I was lying on the wooden floor in a house I didn’t recognize but loved instantly. The rooms all had themes, like one was silver and another was red. The room I was in right now was a forest theme. All the chairs had vines clinging to the backs. I wanted to get up and touch it to see if the vines were real, but my body wouldn’t move.
“Crud,” I mumbled under my breath. Not two seconds later, I was off the floor.
“Yeah, my legs work,” I said happily. Then I realized something. I wasn’t standing. Someone was carrying me toward the bedroom with a navy blue theme. That was the only room that looked familiar. It looked like my bedroom.
I looked up to see a man with hazel eyes, raven wing black hair, a small nose, and pale lips. He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and faded jeans.
He looked like Timmy.
But he wasn’t Timmy.
Timmy always had a kind and warm aura that surrounded him. The man that was holding me felt metallic and icy.
“Who?” I gasped. He had started to fade.
“Silver,” he whispered in a voice like glass breaking that shattered my heart.

| I awoke crying and had no memory of the dream. A moment after I stopped sobbing I realized I was in my bedroom and that I wasn’t alone. First I saw Timmy on the floor shaking. I heard screams ripple through my room. I realized it was me that was screaming while I ran over to Timmy, and just about knocked over a girl about my age that was leaning over him next to me.
“How long has he been like this?” I asked, not caring who she was, or how she got into my room.
“It started about the time you woke up crying,” she stated, out of breath for some reason. I scarcely noticed her hand lift off his forehead. She glared at me and her eyes widened.
“You can help him,” she said, excitement plain in her voice.
“What? How?” I said in a rush. I just want to help Timmy.
“Put your hands on his chest and say wake,” the girl said simply, shrugging and rolling her eyes like I should already know this.
I had no other choice but to do it. I put my hands on his chest.
“Wake,” I said with more authority in my voice than I had ever heard. My voice rang out and the girl laughed happily. I kissed him on the forehead because I knew, somehow, it would help. I watched his eyes roll back in his head and then back to normal. The only problem was his beautiful hazel eyes were gone.
Timmy’s eyes were silver.
