| Burned wasn't boring to me, but it does make a great case for combining all of HON into a single volume once the series is complete.
Taken as part of the greater storyline, Burned is more of an introspective section for the most part.
As for mixing Native American and Celtic mythology, P.C. has a history of blending mythologies in her novels (see the Partholon books), and I've never been confused by it.
Plus P.C. has a Celtic fetish, methinks...or at least reeeally likes guys in kilts.

It took me a while to finish Tempted but Burned is ridiculous for me.
I've had it since May, and I'm still less than half way through. I just think all they're doing is sitting around talking about how to awaken Zoey, or about how much SR fancies a bird man.
If anyone wants to sum it up for me, they can, I don't think I'm going to finish it. - Nonny~~* wrote:

Same with Rephaims. I know exactly how you feel. Yes I got seriously bored with Tempted and then even worse with Burned. I literally forced myself to read them just so I didn't have to avoid spoiler topics.
I also agree with your opinion on Stevie Rae's point of view, I really didn't like it. I think the storyline I'm not liking the most is the Stevie Rae and Rephaim thing...it's weird and creeps me out plus I don't want to read about her weird attraction to the bird man >.<

| I found it refreshing to get away from all that boy drama that follows Z everywhere she goes for a while. I admit that some parts were a little slow. I think that as far as the series is concerned, she might be in the middle of a transition. Maybe she's coming up to the point where she's switching the point of view off of Z and to everyone else and thinks that doing it little by little will be a bit easier than doing it all at once. I mean who knows really. | |

| I didn't find it too broing but it could be from another point of view. All you need to do is set a day when your going to spend all day reading til you finish or go to sleep. Thats what i did. I read it on a staurday.
Hope this helps! X | |

| I felt that this book was really rushed. A lot of things were all smushed together, every even back to back with all the others. PC and Kristen had a week to play with a In-universe time-line, but everything that happens all occurs in two/three days. I think they should have spaced things out. Because they haven't done this nearly all the subplots have been left hanging. - The subplot with the Rogue Red Fledglings. Essentially, nothing has developed there. I mean Nicole showed her true colours in Tempted, she proved she was more then capable and willing to kill people. It was also pretty obvious to everybody else who's side Nicole had chosen. Attempting to make Stevie Rae fry like a hamburger on the roof of the tower was not a subtle message. Why bother mentioning them at all? What happened between Stevie Rae and Dallas in the tunnels could have happened without five Fledglings being killed.
- The subplot with the Vampyre High Council. What was going on with them while Zoey's soul was shattered? Had they postponed their electing of a Vampyre High Priestess? Or was that still going on?
- What on Earth was Neferet doing the whole time? Seeing around drinking martinies? Was she renovating the Palace of Capri? She said it was really run down, how is she living there? I can't imagine Neferet wanting to live somewhere sub-standard. What about all her stuff she left behind at the House of Night? What happened to her Cat Skylar?
- What happened to Heath? Did they already have the funeral? Was the body already sent back to Tulsa? What on Earth is the House of Night doing about that? Are they going to help pay for the funeral costs of the Luck's only son? Is Kalona going to recieve any punishment for killing a human?
Don't get me wrong, i throughly enjoyed Burned. But there are a lot of questions that haven't been answered and a lot of issues that seemed to have been swept under the rug.

| I agree, I felt like a lot of the subplots were just loose ends. It's like they were just fillers to get from point A to point B. I think that when she abandoned Nyx, she abandoned her cat. That's at least how I see it. The other stuff, idk. Maybe they figured since it's not important they'll just bring it up to fill the pages and not go into detail. | |

| Thank you. I've told I'm just being anal by others . Yeah, but what has Skylar been doing in the meantime? Just wandering around the House of Night? Who's feeding him? I mean i understand if they answer all these questions in Awakened, but i jus don't understand why they couldn't have been answered in Burned. | |

| Well, how many books are left? There's potentially plenty of time to further develop/wrap up the dangling subplots.
I agree that several of the books have felt rushed, as if the Casts were trying to meet a deadline and didn't have time to go back and streamline everything.
Makes me wonder if a future rewrite/reprint is in order...

Maybe other fledglings are helping to take care of him much like someone would take in a stray cat. I just think they didn't feel it was an important part of the plot so they never went into detail talking about what happened to him. I think they should because it would only go into further detail about how important it is for every fledgling/vamp to have a cat and how the relationship between the two is deeper than just having a cat choose you because you're marked. Like how people thought black cats were familiars to witches that helped them with magic.

| I've been hesitating on buying Burned, because Tempted was really hard for me to finish, and I find the books have been getting repetitive and boring lately. Zoey's guy problems had me in a rage, and the Stevie Rae thing was like...whut??
I'm pretty sure that Tempted was spanned over a day...and I've heard that Burned was over three days. I'm starting to get turned off by the series, but I do want to get back into it because I did like them in the beginning, that's why I kept reading them up until Tempted.
So...should I buy Burned? I do want to find out what happens and finish the series.

| @Sapphire = Burned is a book that you might not enjoy every moment of it, but has a lot of significant moments in it. It's not something you can skip over, well i don't think you can. I enjoyed the book a lot, i just thought it had some problems.
@Lilith of Night = I think you're right as well. I think the Cats are an important part of Vampyre. I think it's also interesting to note that Stark thus far is the only Red Vampyre/Fledgling that has a familiar.

| No as, the Raven Mockers that were killed and their dead bodies were left behind. The dead bodies of the Raven Mockers at the House of Night were burnt in a pyre, away from Anastasia's pyre. I don't know what happened to the dead bodies that were found at the Benedict Abbey. Stevie Rae got real mad about the fact that the guys placed the bodies in the dumpsters | |

| i don't care that the books are spanned over just a few days - even though it's completely unbelievable that so much happend in just a few days. For example all the emotional things. falling in love and such. that needs more than a few days. but i try not to look at this unrealistic time-desaster but i loved Burned for the fact that there were some much happenings. the other books were just too full with some romance-bullsh** from Zoey, the story didn't go on. But Burned really pushed the whole story a lot! | |

| @Dandelion = Lol, that was one of the reasons why i liked it so much as well. No Zoey Boy-Drama, though it kinda looked like Stevie Rae was attempting to make up for it :p. The in-universe timeline is thing that annoys me the most of this series. | |

| i don't think that SR would have the same boy drama like Zoey, cause she does not fall in love with every guy who crosses her way. so i guess it wouldn't become a boy drama like Zoey and i guess she is not able any more to chose Dallas, cause he's now super-evil?^^ | |
