War Never Changes(Closed)

1939 to 1945

World war two.

I had spent over four years, four long years out in the trench's in the forests. The marsh's were bodies draped the ground in bloodied soil. I was not one of the living. No, I was one of the dead, Undead to be exact. A Nazi POW(Prisoner Of War). I was shot down on the final year. My name is Roath Vonharium. I'm old for a war veteran, in my early thirties. As I said, I was shot down near an American base in one of the out of country towns. I was the only one who survived the shooting, taken by the Americans into their camp. They took pity on me, bedded me and tended to my wounds. But I wouldn't stay dead. I was immortal, a Vampir my people called us as such. Vampires.

I merely was over run with bullets, some though I was not human, I even lost one of my eye's from a stray bullet. As I laid in bed, weakened and hunger. I was tended to by many nurses and doctors, many couldn't understand what I truly was.

I was walking around doing my rounds before the doctor came around and tended to everyones wounds. Sometime I wondered why I didn't stay home and work like all the other women, some of this blood and guts were even to much for me to handle. I looked over and saw a guy with a shot wound in the eyes, just like that... that was nasty. The whole question I had was how in the world was he still alive, some guys were getting legs amputated. This was to much for one person to handle. It made her shiver.

Slowly he sat up, feeling the constrictions of pain. He raised his hand to where he no longer felt his eye. "verdammt, sie erschossen mein Auge aus. Nicht schlecht." He grunted as he looked to one of the nurses close by. He padded his clothing. My smokes?

He looked up with questioning eye's. "Zigarette." He motioned to her the sign of puffing on a cigarette. One of the soldiers stepped forward, ordering the german man to lay back down at gun point.

I walked over to the guy and helped them lay him down, personally I thought some of the tactics they used were barbaric. "Um... sir, there are no cigarrettes allowed here. When you get better and can go outside, you can have a smoke then but you cant have it now. I'm sorry."

He gave her a puzzeled look. He glanced down at the bandages and smirked. "Ich bin ganz feinen." He smiled as he took her hand and gently kissed it. He had the normal SS short hair cut, his hair a dirty blond. Bright blue eye's, the definition of a German SS Nazi. Of Course he was an SS, highly skilled in the art of combat and killing. He let the girls hand go and began to tore the bandaging off as if it were paper. "I...can..walk alright..." He spoke English as he slowly swung his legs over the bed side and stood, his bullet wounds were gone. Something that would take years to get rid of, they didn't even get to remove the bullets yet.

"I..Need...smoke.." He motioned smoking a cigarette. "Stand..outside?" He pointed out the tent as he looked to the soldiers who had their guns traiend on him, they were all shaking. Some of the other POW's whistled and called him by name.

"Der Grimmige sensenmann lebt!"

The Grim Reaper Lives!

Roath sighed as he shook his head, he hated being called a reaper. They all knew he was one to recover miraculously from severe damage.

She saw him stumble and she caught him and wrapped her arm around his waits. She looked at the soldiers. "Clearly he is not it the kind of condition to be dangerous." She said and walked him to the tent opening. "Hold on sir I will get you a cigarette." She said and walked back inside and grabbed a pack.

He shielded his eye's from the bright sunlight. It wouldn't kill him but it sure as hell bothered him. He always felt a dark tingle run down his spine when the sun touched his skin. He sighed as he looked at the encampment.
"Nicht gerade viel zu sehen." He saw that there weren't many forces in the camp. Once he recovers he was sure to kill them all. If they didn't find out what he truly was.

She walked back out to him, "Here you are sir" She said standing on the side with his good eye, to hand him the cigarette. She was no doctor but she sure knew a wound to the eye was sure enough to kill someone, it made her wonder how in the hell he was still alive. "Can you speak english?"

He took the cigarette and lit it up quickly, inhaling a ridiculous amount of smoke in a single breath. Almost taking half the cigarette in one breath. His exhale was pure whit, hiding his face for a moment as he breathed in and out the smoke. The chemicals couldn't kill him, but the nicotine was somewhat addicting. His head high was somewhat a relief from the pain. He could still feel pain, just not as bad as humans could. He knew his eye's were gone for now, it may grow back if he drank enough blood. Yet he wasn't going to risk such an action just yet.

"I speak a little bit of English." He spoke with the German accent. "I have to if I am to speak with Americans from time to time. You are a...Krankenschwester? A Nurse?" He looked her up and down with his good eye. A warm smile appeared on his lips. "I am a Colonel of the SS. Roath Vonharum." He took another long drag on the fagg.

She nodded at him, "Its nice to meet you Mister Vonharem," She tried to pronounce it but it was completely wrong. "Yes I am a Nurse and my name is Sarah-May Smith." She extended her hand for him to take it. He did seem all that bad as what the officers were saying about the Germans, personally I had never met any so I wouldn't really know how bad they actually are. But it was okay I was olny here to help keep people alive.

The killer smiled as he pulled the cigarette away, taking her hand in his as he bent down and kissed her hand. "Please to meet you. Ms.Smith." He stood back erect once more. Smoking his cigarette down to the stub then placing it in a small container to slip back in his pocket. "Littering is such a rude thing to do." He said as an explanation to his actions. He turned to look at her with rough eye's. "I assume that I am stuck here till the war is over? To shut myself up and keep to myself? " He sighed as he began to step back inside and called out to the men who were whispering in German.

"Schloß die viele von euch! Festzulegen und rest ihre verdammt Einrichtungen bevor ich slice ihre verdammt Hals!" He yelled with such a booming voice that every German soldier that was talking went silent and laid down as if to go to sleep. Roath looked back to the young nurse. "A German soldier is raised in a strict environment. You must us discipline if you wish to give orders." He was then escorted back to his bed by two armed guards for raising his voice. He did not cause problems as he laid down. Slowly touching the bandaging over his eye. I need blood.

She looked at him and then to all the German men around they had all got quiet really fast. This was the first time she had heard silence in a long time and it was nice. "Thank you." She said to him and walked off looking around and checking on the other men.

One thing Sarah May had been thinking about for a long time was that if the americans wanted the germans dead why were we wasting our time trying to keep them safe and healthy and not do to them what they were going in concentration camps everywhere right now. Like it would have made sense. Some times she wondered about military tactics. She shrugged it off and walked back over to Mr. Vonharem "Do you need anything Sir?"

As the old veteran laid in bed, he sighed heavily. It was getting late now, his hunger burning in his chest as he laid with eye's closed. His hand running through his bright angel hair.

"Their using us for information." He looked up at the nurse. "Interrogation, execution. There are many reasons as to why they want us alive. Once they have information, they line us up in a row and gun us down." All the other Americans looked tensed, staring at the Veteran wondering how he got such information.

The sounds of gun fire could be heard off in the distance.

She looked down at him with surprise, How had he known that was what I was thinking? That was a little weird. "Umm... okay, but is there anything I could get you before you die apparently?" She asked him a little freaked out by the whole ordeal but she had to get through it. She really just wanted today to be over so that she could go to her quarters and rest her feet. This whole walking around for 16 hours was getting the best of her.

He smiled as he patted an empty spot next to him. "Sit, your tired right?" He smiled and closed his eyes once more. "I won't be dieing anytime soon." He smirked at the thought of just simply running up to one of the soldiers, ripping him limb from limb as he killed every human one after another. But he turned to open his eye's, staring at the nurse. Would he have to killer her to? Maybe he would simply drink her blood dry.

"I can't" She said, "As tempting as that sounds, I have to finish my rounds," she told him, She really didn't like the sound of all these people being shot down like dogs. She couldn't just let that happen. What if they didn't give information did they torture them or something? This was not what I signed up for.

"There are others doing the same job, they can fill in your shoes for a time. Rest your feet, your overworking yourself." He gently took her hand as he sat up. "If you wish to know about things, I can speak to you. I'm not afraid of their bullets, their electrocutions or their methods of making people talk. Even if we talk for a short time, your feet will be rested." He smiled as he sat there, holding her hand gently, not hard enough to keep her there, but firm enough to let her feel his gently thumb rubbing the back of her hand.

She looked down at him. "Um.. okay." She said and sat down. She felt a little weird sitting there and he mind was focused on her thumb.

His eye's were warm and caring. He seemed rather peaceful, yet this was all an act. Inside he was a raving monster who feasts on the blood and entrails of the living. He leaned closer to her and rested his head on her shoulder. "What do you wish to know?" He whispered to her as he held her hand. "I'll tell you everything you wish to know, about myself. How I lived, how I can survive even death."

She looked at him and nodded... "Okay. How did you survive a shot to the eye?" She asked, He made her nervous.

"Because not human weapon can slay me. Head shot off,blown up,torn from limb to limb. My body regenerates." He then began to remove his eye bandaging. "I have been through many wars....I've killed many many people. I died a very long time ago, and since then. I've been wandering this world without the chance to fully stay dead." He removed all the bandages and looked at her with bright blue eye's, his other eye was completely back.

"Holy sh!t" She said and fell off the bed "What the hell are you?" She asked competely scared. "No this is impossible."

Many people gawked and stared, but the Germans acted like it wasn't something new to them. They all knew of the immortal SS officer. The personal guardsmen of Hitler themselves. "Don't be afraid, I will not harm you. I promise as an officer to keep my word." He was still holding her hand as he gently picked her up, without difficulty and set her on the bed. The American officers drew their guns and aimed it at the unliving soldier.

"Leave us."she said to the men, "What are you?" She asked scared out of her mind but she didn't want to show it anymore.

The men stepped down and back out of the tent to keep watch. Roath smiled and kissed her hand slowly as his smile became wide,showing his sharp long canine teeth. "A vampire, the ones of legend with a bit more punch and bite then those fairy tales." He still held her hand fondly.
