why is it that we cant talk anymore?
Is it that i've changed?
is it that you've changed?
or maybe the situation has changed.
i remember it clearly:
the day when it all stopped,
or, i guess started....
the not talking....
i went up to you like nothing was wrong.
you replied to me akwardly.
he whispers something to you.
and i knew what it was.
"its her." yes, its her....
i step back and realized i had gone too far.
i walk away with a friend
and walk away from our friendship.
weeks pass...
not a word is said, except from an
occasional "hey" or "sup".
i see you more and more,
and notice, out of everything,
when you walk into a room.
why am i doing this?
why cant i look away?
im such an idiot, arent i?

I came, not knowing if
you were even there.
I meet my friends, some of yours,
and we dance, dance dance...
im the first out of us to notice.
i'm shy, and i cant help that.
but when you asked her to dance....

i wanted to cry.

She knew i wanted to be with you.
'mari, mari, get over here!' she mouthed...
but i ran. i sat down with two friends
until the song ended.
i didnt dance as enthusiastically
as i did before, but i still tried to smile.

The last song of the night.

I knew you wanted to ask me,
but again, my shyness gets
the best of me, and you dance with another...
i wanted to run, again, but him,
such a good friend of mine, pulled me in
and told me not to be shy.
you leave your dance partner and
he leaves me. 'i'm going to find my girl'.
we hug and im alone during a slow song.
She, one of my best friends, dances
with me and we think 'we dont need guys'.

and then my heart stops.

Who do i see walk over to us?
its you, smiling shyly. 'can we make this a three?'
we agree, and my friend backs out.
to make it a one-on-one...
i wish it would have gone like that.
to dance with you, just us.

but there's always nextime, right?

The Mona Lisa

I have this little secret,
that only I can know:
it's something hidden in my smile.
something i can never let go.

So big it can shatter your world.
So big, it makes murder nice
I will never let anyone hear it,
because nothing else could suffice.

Only one person can possibly guess it
and here's why it cant be said:
This person who knows my secret
is rotting, cold and dead.
