Will your Wings unfold?I re-read Betrayed about a few days ago and thought this was rather interesting. The poem Zoey found in her locker was supposebly from Loren. Many people say it wasn't, but i think it is. If you read the poem, it's giving off a hint about Kalona and Neferet. Loren was Neferet mate, right? And Kalona is her consort, right? So, heres what I think. Even though Loren loved Neferet, he still didn't want Zoey to get hurt (as in killed,not as in her love life (ugh)). so, without trying to get caught, he tries to tell Zoey about Neferet's evil. But Neferet finds out after the whole sleeping-with-Zoey-for-you thing and kills him for his betrayal (In Chosen). (Heath prooves Neferet had killed him in Tempted). Alluring Priestess.
Night can't cloak your scarlet dream.
Accept Desire's call.Okay, I see many interpetations in this poem. There's the one where Neferet/Loren knows Zoey's been drinking blood. And there is another one that I found was rather weird but interesting. Zoey has (basically) three boyfriends in this book. And one is Erik Night isn't it? So, the poem could mean that he knows she has desire for him, but she is hiding from it behind Erik and Heath. This one could basically mean anything though. But that's just another interpitation.Tell me what you think! | |

| You know what, I totally didn't even think about that. I haven't had time to reread the books yet because I have to edit the book my husband wrote and then I have to finish the Harry Potter series then LotR. But, now that you posted the poems, I can see the connection. Maybe it was his way to warn Z, because even though he loved Neferet he may not have liked what she was doing and he thought that Zoey could stop her. As in get her to go back to the Light Side and not kill her.
I think the second one is about Neferet. Because everyone thinks she's beautiful and perfect and full of goodness and what not. She's using the school as a cover to start her war with humans and the scarlet dream is about all the blood shed that's going to be required to awaken Kalona which she desires. Or it could be about Zoey because she would be the next priestess and everyone likes her because she's special and what not. Desire's call could be the prediction of Kalona calling to Zoey in her dreams and she can pretty much decide the fate of the world which would be the killing of millions of people. | |

| I loved the poems, but I didn't sit there long enough to see if I could figure out what they meant. I didn't want to stop reading, I just wanted to get farther and farther into the book to figure out what was going to happen. And I haven't had time to re-read. | |

| I've re-read them, but I've never thought of the poems in Betrayed. I've mostly focused on the poems in the later books. But now that you say it, Loren could have been trying to warn Zoey...I hate to say this, but I think I'm starting to respect him a bit.
And the second poem, it could either be about Zoey as Nox said, or it could be about Neferet as Lilith of Night said. It's hard to say who it's about, except that it's about a priestess, so it's probably one of those two. | |

| see the first poem never made sense to me. however, how could anyone have known that zoey was going to pick that book. i mean, loren wasnt even there, and she picked that book last minute. lets say loren guessed which book she would use and placced the peom there before he left. how did he know she was going to research more stuff anyway? of course, if the second poem isnt written bby loren, that means the first one wasnt either. (sorry im trying to work my thoughts out.) is there a possibility that aphrodite wrote the poems to her, because of a vision she had? | |

| The poems sure give me a damn headache, because there's no way I can ever interprete them properly. This happens to me all the time also in school (I usually just write something crappy for an answer and get an A because the teacher sees something I don't xD)
But the poems sure are an important part of HoN and just because I'm crappy at interpreting them doesn't mean I couldn't enjoy them^^ | |
