I took a gulp of water.

I smiled and kept eating. There was one piece of chocolate left on the top of the cake that I would save for later.

"Why have you suddenly stopped peppering me with questions?"

I chuckled. "Because I am thinking about what you said," I told her. "And is that what you call my queries? Pestering questions?"

"I said peppering. Meaning you were asking me one questions after another. And what is there to think about?"

"Oh," I said. "Sorry. And I'm thinking about how you think that I'm your only friend."

"Your not special or anything...." I said softly.

"What does that imply?" I asked, chewing nosily on a new bite so that she knew I was chewing if I didn't reply fast enough for her liking.

"Sorry." I said. I got up and went to the door. "See you around." I said and left.

I swallowed quickly and stood up. "Wait. Jasmine!" I called. But I heard the door close. I sat down and laid down my head. I slammed the table with my fist and heard a knock. A voice asked if I wanted lights and I said that I did. WHen the lights turned on I took 2 20s and a 10 to cover the costs of the meal and I raced out to try and find her.

I was almost at my car.

I ran after her while shouting her name. "Wait! Jasmine!" I called.

I turned and looked at him. "What do you want?"

"I'm sorry," I said. "That and I need a ride."

"What are you sorry for?"

"That I said something that offended you," I said. "That I dragged you into something that you didn't want to do. That I ask to many questions. But I'm not sorry that I'm your friend."

"It doesn't matter. I'm no one. So in all reality my feelings don't matter to anyone."

"They matter to me Jasmine," I said. "I want you to be happy. Not upset or mad or anything. Especially not at me."

"I'm not mad at you. I just don't belong hanging out with or be your friend. I just deserve to go dig a hole and never come out."

"Says who?" I asked. "Because whoever said something or anything like that to anybody is f***ing sh*t. Lower then cr*p on the food chain. And anyone who said it to you in particular is even lower then the person who said it to anybody. Because you are a track star, my friend and possibly the girl that I am starting to like. You are an independent woman who is just shy."

"I'll take you back to school but please don't hang around me anymore. We're of different groups and the guy who did break my heart was Bruce....when I told him I liked him he just laughed at me....I vowed to myself I wouldn't subject myself to be rejected again.." I said softly with tears prickling at the corner of my eyes.

I touched her face lightly to brush away the tears. I wanted to kiss her. I wanted to kiss her so bad now. So I clenched my eyes shut and pulled away my hand. Then I opened my eyes and said, "You like Bruce? Then let's break up Bruce and Amber."

"I don't like any of the guys at school. And theres no way you can go back to that b*tch after what she did to you."

I smiled an evil smile. One that I hardly show and only on the rarest of occasions. "Who said I was getting back with her? I'm going to make her pay for what she did to you," I said. "If you want I can even put a good word in for Bruce."

"I don't want to be with him ever. He's not worth my time."
